i want to chnge the civic into a track car/road car
i know a track/road car isnt the best mix of all lol

do i need specialist parts to make it
into a track car?
if so what parts do you think i need?
heres my mods so far

engine:
b16a2
b18cR cylinder head (still to be fitted and also needs camshafts so abit of help on that would be great!)
spoon HT leads
denso iridium spark plugs heat range 6
b16b flywheel
ACT stage2 clutch
buddy club short shift
spoon gear change rod
energy shift bushes
buddy club pro spec cat back
home made de-cat :D

suspension/chassis:
D2 coilovers
skunk2 front and rear camber adjusters
aftermarket rear LCA's
front and rear strut braces
rear lower tie bar
cusco side b pillar braces
c pillar brace
should i get poly bushes or ones like spoon?

brakes:
282mm front disc conversion
omp racing brake pads (not so good tbh)
goodridge s/s braided hoses
DOT 5 brake fluid
and a leaking brake servo lol

interior:
ek9 recaros
sparco 300mm suade steering wheel
spoon duracon gearknob
omp 50mm steering wheel spacer
sparco metal pedals

wheels and tyres:
oz racing super lagera 15"
yokohama prada spec2 195/50/15

if you guys can think of improvements to be made on my curent set up that would be great

looking forward to hearing from you:nice:

i don't think you will go far with D2 coilovers. Bigger swaybars is a good option as well, along with racing tyres

^As above + many events are 98db, if your BC is loud you will fail. Change of final drive & lighter flywheel. Tuition at the event will make the biggest difference.

I might be selling some stuff from my EK9 and B18. How does itr cams and B16b bottom end sound for you buddy?

Whats wrong with D2's? I think they are a maremite coilover. I think they are very good budget coilover.

Roll cage would be nice! Safety first also the stiffness it provides for the chassis certainly improved my EK4

If your only starting out keep the b16a....just get some coilovers, good pads, less weight, good tyres and just practice.

ill talk to you about it on the weekend mate when i pick up the ARB:nice:

i like the d2's but like you say they are marmite lol but for a cheap coilover they are good enough how can they be much different than another make?

im getting r888's again after i see how my court case goes in june:angry:

It depends on what goals you are setting. I would be in favor of a custom coilover or to put it differently i would try to have a variety of spring rates available at low cost. I think BC can be of some help. Still, as mentioned above, practice is the best bet for you

D2 are what they are because they are budget, poorer quality & design, but if you already have them, dont waste money on another set, if you are just starting out at TD's they will do.

^^ What he said! I HATE mine, but i can't justify chucking the cash away on another set.

I find my MUgen ARB's/ASR brace and LSD to be the most beneficial money i've spent recently.

well im collecting a ek9 rear anti roll bar and asr brace from ijwhiteman on saturday so that should help perform:D
also while my wheekls get reconed next month im getting some r888's

then next on the list is sort the engine and gearbox out as i have a noise coming from my head and my gearbox i buggered
so fit my itr head and get an lsd gearbox then she should be a honey!:drive:

where can i get a roll cage from Ian? if i get one that means there will be a few braces for sale so if anyone wants those cusco side pillar braces put your name down ;)

crikey! go selection there! lol

arent the cusco bolt in ones any good? im not sure if i would like to weld it in tbh

You can get a bolt in one from them, they'll just need to make some mounts up for you....cusco ones are good but abit 'showey' CustomCages do the real deal.

But this all depends on what you wan't from the car...do you wan't it to just have the 'track' style but never use it on the track or your gonna track it which means you don't really care what it looks like as it's gonna get messed up on the track anyway?

im going to be using it on track alot next year, i also hope to do my racing licance to so i need a car thats built well im not bothered how it looks to be honest just as long as it looks good outside:nice:

A bolt in cage will keep you safer in an off, but does next to nothing in stiffening up the cars frame. When you reach the point where you feel you are ready for full slicks, a cage is a must imo.

great thanks for the advise mate:nice:

is there anyother parts i should upgrade engine wise like an oil cooler?

Wouldnt worry about an oil cooler to start with. Think most other bits have been covered.

I dissagree your still adding braces bolted into points of the car no different to strut braces mate. Obviously no where near as good as a full weld in cage.

I think it really depends on where it is bolted, strut braces generally go on your suspension mounts so all good, trouble is many bolt in cages dont connect with the optimum structural points imo, and many are just for show, the difference between bolt & weld is night & day. Nothing wrong with a bolt in though - it will still save your life :nice:

Totally aggree and thats the most important thing safety! My cage is a System 21 or Safety 21 can't remember but it ties in with the foot well in 4 corners, the B pillar, and rear arches. Then it is fixed in 9 points in total. I do agree majority of cages are just for show and don't do anything for rigidity but i believe my Cusco one does it is very good quality and well thought out stuctural design.
