So I didn't see a thread where all the HID info/kits were put into one thread so I figured I'd start one as I myself are looking for a decent quality HID kit that has decent lighting focus and not throwing light everywhere but the road.

I guess this is more of a review thread but anything pertaining to HIDs I guess could he posted in here and prevent from more of the same HID threads showing up.

Pretty much what I'm looking for are what kit you guys are using, if it has a shield or not and if it telescopes or not. And most of all the light output/cutoff pics.
Projectors are welcome but mostly looking for PnP kits. (Plug n Play / Drop-in)

Post away :)

I have a vme kit I believe it is and it's the bi xenon or telescope bulb.. I like them they are pretty bright but I have problems aligning them. I believe this is because my alignment gears in my housing is broken.. btw I have 4300k and they are hella bright. I'm gonna get a new housing and hopefully that'll fix my alignment problem. I'm also gonna install 3000k in my fogs but I've gotta figure out how to accomplish that.

I also have 4300k hid's, x 2 for the mega brightness of them lol.

Experiencing a little problem with them at the minute though, my left hid seems to randomly turn on/off, I was thinking it might be the balast but then it wouldnt come on at all?

Checked the earth's and wiring for short circuits and nothing - im confused! :nono:

HID and 96-00 civic should not be in the same sentence! unless your running projector headlights.

and yes i did have a set before and yes they are bright and yes they do blind oncoming traffic :wow:

i just have a pet hate for these kits so dont mind me folks :)

i had the same problem with my hid and it turned out that it was the spade connections. they kept moving so they would come on and off going over bumps etc.

got fed up with fixing it so i cut the plug and spade connection and soldered them together. no more porblem.

i would suggest that as a loast resprt bud but i hope that it helps mate :nice:

I have ordered a set of DDM H11 3k for my fog lights. I see that some people talk about "HID relay kit" and would like to know if I need to buy this.
I just bought a 2012 Altima with stock fog lights and stock HID on the head lights.
On my civic I only have OEM HID for the head lights but they are from a Infiniti G35
Do I have to get the Hid Relay Kit for the fog lights???

There are plenty of cheap unbranded kits on ebay that are cheap for a reason.
The build quality is poor and the ballasts are not always sealed and therfore eventually leak in water and fail. I have personally experienced this in the past on my old DC2. :nono:

Two weeks ago I decided to buy a branded more expensive kit thinking that everything would be perfect as you get what you pay for normally.

I purchased a Genuine Phillips Bi-xenon H4 4300K Kit from Ebay that cost £110.
One ballast was faulty and after getting a replacement sent out to me the second ballast didnt always "strike" the Hid lamp 1st time from cold.

I then found that when flashing somebody out at a junction my High beam stuck on and it took a few minutes to drop back due to the lamps actuator sticking. This happened on more than one occasion.

On top of all this the beam pattern was all over the place and I know it would have failed the mot.

I sent the kit back, got a full refund and bought a set of Osram Night Breaker Plus which are excellent. :nice:

We use PIAA HID units. Best HID system hands down. 4300k, ice white. NEVER failed after 3 years of daily use. Made by OSRAM then rebranded for PIAA. Just a bit more expensive than your usual ebay cheap shite ;)

PIAA HIDLAMPS

I have the slim £50 HIDs in my MK4 golf, got them off ebay and cant fault them. Been running them over a year and cant fault them. Had a HID kit on my RX7, that was a pain in the ass, sometimes one qould only light up, so i ended up getting the Phillips X Treme bulbs.

When looking at a set of HID's my friend told me to always buy German made kits and this rule has not let me down.

My nine came with PIAA HID's and are very good. The bulb is shielded which helps with directing the light correctly. My only gripe is you do get a shaft of light pointing directly upwards and lights up the trees as you go past. I have been driving in fog before and this also caused a bit of a problem with the fog lighting up.

Overall my experience with this kit has been faultless and the small problem with the upwards light is not enough to worry about for me. :))
