Hi all :)

Basically I am considering getting a new daily, looking for something comfy, reliable, economical and preferably standard or as close to standard as possible and was wondering what your suggestions/experiences may be :)?

Cheers.

Could get a nice E46 for that man! Thats what I'd go for anyway!

I'm with Keith! Audi 4wd s-line diesel a nice comfy car, both a3 and a4 be solid and decent on fuel :nice:

i am doing the same just now. Not so bothered about the economy and insurance has come right down for me, there is so much out there aswell

Think you will need to try a couple and see what you think.

I dont know what youve had before. But Audi / BMW are very nice drives.

Ive had both in the last few years. And both were impressive. Though the Audi takes the biscuit.
Ill be doing less miles soon, so looking to get an EK9, as commuting will be short, or by bike. Instead of the 30 ish miles i currently do. Cant really afford or justify 2 cars.

Ferio VI-RS. Reasonably spacious, quick BUT economical (try to find a car with 130hp that does 0-62 in under 9 seconds and does 20 km's to the litre), looks nice, reliable, easy and cheap to maintain, better handling than those standard comfortable cars. I drive an EK3 as a daily and will probably keep doing that for quite a while cause they cost next to nothing while being reasonably quick and very reliable.

Skoda Fabia VRs 1.9 tdi. Great wee cars. Midrange torque is bloody incredible.
60mpg easy

Do you guys pay extra tax for diesels in the UK?

E46 330ci m sport. Plenty in your price range and cool ass cars

if i had 5k it would be a s3 audi or a dc2

offtopic but your location says tomorrowland, have you been?? a dj i know played this year and the pictures look insane!! fingers crossed il be there next year! :))

No, ours is all worked out by emmisions and how many wheels are driven, for newer cars anyway, older cars have set tax bands.

Ah right so a diesel is actually always more interesting as a daily? We pay around 50 euro's or more extra tax a month for a diesel. So it only pays off to get a diesel when you drive around 20k miles or more per year.

Ek3 civics make a great daily, as handy ran as most diesel from the 90s. Don't know what you should buy with your 5k budget tho , anything newish diesel when give abuse just won't take it like a ek9. Turbo's, clutches and flywheels etc
