All the Spoon rails are on the way over to us - A lot of companies in Japan are closing for summer break which is causing some major delays with shipments over.
Please remember that:
a) our prices are competitive and we have massive air freight costs to bare - Spoon Europe prices were higher with sea freight prices. By the time we send these rails out to you costing us £7.80 + VAT we are actually making a loss on each rail sold. But hey, you got some cheap rails We take care of shipping over to the UK (which has gone up massively due to fuel surcharges), duty, VAT and customs charges.
b) we are a small business that started as a hobby and has grown massively. As with anything, there are always growing pains. We have put trust in a number of customers/retailers which has left us seriously out of pocket. This has reflected on our cashflow which unfortunately causes us problems with lead times.
c) We do not manufacture anything ourselves. We are merely resellers. I have to know about several thousand products in my nugget, so when you get on MSN asking about fitment of a rail, or lifespan of a brake rotor or dust levels of a pad I have to know. On top of that, I rarely stop work until 10:00pm.
d) I did ask for people to pay by transfer as our credit card merchant holds onto all the money for 28 days. Imagine taking £40k and not seeing any of that money?
e) As some of you may know I've had some back problems which has caused me great discomfort and problems getting into work. My GF and business partner (who is only part time) has been dealing with the odd shipment in etc. They may have just searched for the rail product code, brought up a list of orders and just sent the rails out from the product search rather than fine tuning the search by date. Apologies.
As this started as a hobby I've been completely open book on all forums about the ins/outs of buying these parts. We get bad rep for "6 weeks wait on AEM - WTF?" when what can we do about AEM not having stock? Or AEM wanting to sea freight everything over to maximise profits when I actually make losses on making sure you lot have the parts as fast as possible rather than as profitable as possible..
Food for thought.
