Spoon Low Position Seat Rails GB - VTEC Direct

Got my rails this afternoon. Got them fitted already. Thanks alot Bazza:nice:.

same mate can you drop me a pm when you`ve posted em, cheerz

Hi Bazza,

Unfortunately I have to say I not at all happy with the Spoon seat rails!
I will clear this from the start, that this is not a relection on yourself or your business but on Spoon directly!

The quality overall of the rails is poor and is something comparable to what would be bought on the cheap from Ebay. The rails did not come with all the fixings necessary to bolt up to the seats nor are the bolting patterns the same. 3 Bolts on each side of the rail standard and only 2 on the Spoon. Nor do the original bolts fit. Also, the rails are incredibly stiff and it is a mission to move them. I fear that this will fail me on the NCT.

I am so dissappointed at Spoon.

Anyone else had any issues? Or suggestions?
I think the best thing to do is to send these back. Bazza can you PM me the details on what to do to arrange this?

Thanks.

In response to thingee and any one else who is curious.

The only parts supplied are two rails, three washers and some japanese instructions which are not needed as they are a doddle to fit.

I agree the bolt pattern was not the same i.e two bolts on each rail rather than three. It was'nt a problem because they line up and are very secure once fitted. Mine came with three washers which i used on the original bolts that mount the rails to the floor, one of my original bolts had a washer big enough. I assume Spoon knew this otherwise they would of supplied more than three.

The rail is a little stiff to move back/forth, but i noticed they are not lubeb like my original rails. They should free up a bit once in and moved about a few times.

I thought the quality was spot on, they appear very strong and i'm confident my seat is not gonna move around.

My rails are for a dc2 integra so they maybe different but would've thought build quality would be the same.

This may not help you thingee, but thought i'd just share my view.:nice:

You should have just PM'd or emailed me if you had any concerns mate:p
You know im on email all day everyday:)

But to answer your questions:

Stiffness
It is not uncommon for Spoon, Bride, Vision rails to be "firm" for a few shifts.. Once they free up they are stiffer than OEM for sure, but not so stiff you can't use them. I have Bride rails in my EK which were a right pain to start with..

X is better than y

We sell product that the market demands - I can say until im blue in the face that X is better than Y but most people just buy on brand name. Despite recommendations:nono:

I would have recommended Bride rails over Spoon but you pay for the extra quality.

We'll talk via email about returning them.

I've fitted Spoon rails to several cars including EK9, never really had any issues. Another customer wanted help via MSN which I gladly gave and he has them in his car with no issues.

@ Lenny

Cheers for your reply. All the help is appreciated.

@ Bazza

Sorry mate, you are dead right I should have just mailed you. Had a bad day yesterday and it just got worse after my episode with the rails. I hope you appreciate that I did say that this is not a reflection on you and is quite to the contrary, I have found you to be most helpfull with everything and a pleasure to deal with. I am going to meet up witrh another lad over the wkend to have a look at his rails as he had similar problems and i'll go from there.

Hi Baz,

Yeah that was me. Thanks again for you help. I love my lower seat. I'm a bit of a lanky bugger and find now that I feel alot better connected to the car when i'm driving. The wheel is at a better angle, the pedals are in a better position and I can only have 2 other passengers now - result.

It was a bit stiff but i put some LM grease on the runners and it moves quite freely. Only annoying thing is the adjuster lever thing sticks out a long way but I understand that it's attached to the floor and not the seat this time to it needs to be long enough so that it can still be reached when the seat it right forward.

Cheers again baz. Have to think of something else to spend some dosh on ;).

infact tell a lie, was at top of the list but didn`t pay 1st:(( my bad lol:p:p

i hope my comes soon...i thought i was the 3rd one to pay...how comes others got it first...
