how many hp can i get from a b16b spoon engine without a turbo. any info would be appreciate it.

Do you mean if you buy a B16b Spoon engine assay directly from Spoon JP or just if you bolt on a load of Spoon bits? More info:)

If your wondering the most you can get from a B-series all motor? i'd say somewhere south of 375whp and thats with alcohol or methanol and LOADS of money and custom parts and it wont last long at all.

not much, there is nothing really special about them... slightly larger cams, slightly higher compression, fancy ignition leads... you can those parts your self and use better parts for less money...

really!!!! so, why spoon jp is so known as the best of the best for b engines?

spoon make engines to last long in the tracks ,not to make big hp for just few races a spoon b16b might go up to 200hp if you have all of their products including exhuast and ecu.but it will be a well balanced new engine.

any engine thats raced hard will need a rebuild often, does not matter who makes it, pistons rings/bearings at least...

but how often ? how often you have to rebuild a 14:1 comp engine reving 10.000rpm and how often a spoon engine which is similar to stock but balanced?

oh God... here we go with the Spoon vs the world mud slinging.

No Fear has the right idea. The motors that Spoon preps are used for racing series that call for stock motors.

Read that again if it just glazed over your eyeballs.

Professional race teams in Asia will opt for these engines to comply to the regulations and are confident in Spoon's assembly methods to provide a reliable motor to last a race season.

It is NOT meant for people looking to build the most powerful and it is certainly not the cheapest but it is also not as expensive as many think. Many have purchased USDM B18C5 ITR shortblocks or longblocks from Acura for roughly the same price as a Spoon short/longblock.

Both share one distinct similarity and that is they are both brand new. Not refurbished. Yes we can debate this aspect all day long, but the fact of the matter is they are BRAND NEW IN BOX. That accounts for the higher price vs. purchasing some $100.00 cracked sleeve block to have it resleeved and stronger than stock.

220bhp is not unheard of for a well tuned B16B from Spoon.

well said RagingAngel, so then i take it unless your racing in a class that calls for OEM specs or your an OEM or spoon fenatic i fail to see a reason to purchase the spoon engine...

Most absolutely correct.

Some racing series may even ask for proof of your purchase order to qualify for the class. I personally think it is a great way - this supply and demand structure. I mean somebody's gotta miss shift and blow something up during the season... :p

However, it must be said that since the EK9 and DC2 have been out of production for some time now, Spoon's crate motors are no longer built from brand new blocks from what I have heard.

Meh... ain't so hard to believe.

Spoon offers different levels of tuning as well. For example, their ITBs were never officially released to the public, but just like their camshafts intended for sport use (not race use) they are similar if not identical to the Toda units.

I have seen, held and smelled them in person :p

Spoon will likely not sell their competition camshafts/suspension components (yes they are different - the Spoon car above has dampers that are more like Mugen N1 than their own N1 kits) to you unless you have a competition license. This "fact" may be different today... but was the truth a short few years ago.

On the other hand, you can buy JUN 4 cams with a few clicks of your mouse.

Why would you want to turbo or consider it being that its an N/A inspired motor?

Because Fast and Furious said Spoon engines can have T77 turbos and use a motec systems exhaust.

I hate that movie on so many levels....

Might as well add a NOS....two BIG ones too....:nono:

lol
i wonder what else will they offer in the 4th movie...

:secret:how about brand new Veilside bodykits for the 08 STi. Veilside's bodykit aint even out yet! thats about all i heard. just new bodykits for various cars. anybody else heard any more stuff, rumors?
