Spoon EK9's


ermm.. i dunno... both have shorter gears fo sho... but other that, the specs arent too clear. Maybe someone can get the details or something.

I wonder why the B18 one put down a whole second better?
 
Gearing of the B18 is superior (B18 has full cross gearset and the K20 has only a 5.1 FD)

The balance and set up of the B18 is wayyyyyyyyyy better, the lap looks effortless, amazing driving! Look at the K20 video, fighting at the wheel at every oportunity


Spoons B18 EK9 is built as an all out race car

the K20 one is built as a "show" car, to prove that they can fit a K20 in place of the B series, also to show that the monoblock calipers fit other models than the EP3 etc. almost as an experiment to try something a bit different

i would really love to know the full spec i mean every single little thing they have done to that b18 ek9 (so i can copy it :p)
 
Ever heard of the saying, 'A small plank of wood would burn well in a small oven' and 'A big plank of wood would burn well in a big oven'?

Meaning if you put a big wood plank into a small oven, it wont burn well and vice versa.


1. Tsukuba is a small track. You can tell the B18C EK9 was built for that track especially the gearing.

2. K20 EK9 never touched 6th gear on that track, proves its more built was the bigger tracks with more straights. This is where the B18 will run out of gears and puff.

3. If it was on Suzuka, K20a EK9 would win easily. Bigger track, more straights etc etc.

I hope people here still dont think B-series are better than K-series. We know the B-series is more old-school, raw and has that original VTEC characteristics, but it can never catch K-series. Engineering always advances forward, not backwards, especially for HONDA.

There are K-series bored out to 2.6L nowadays making almost 400whp(US) Naturally Aspirated. Skunk2's run 9.5sec(approx) 1/4 mile N/A. And many K23-K24s runnning 10s-11s Naturally Aspirated.
