Hey guys, ive got a speedometer problem. Changed the oil in my ej6 and changed the o2 sensor as my check engine light was on because of it. When i finished and started the car and drove it, the speedo needle went all over. Speed was way off. I know there was a user here with a similar problem. Took a video will upload it as soon as i get a chance.

Heres the videos i took. This one at a stop light. Couldnt get anymore as the light turned green.

Anyone? Ive tested my old dx cluster and same thing happens...

looking like a wiring issue, did you take a look at the speed sensor in your gearbox? make sure the wiring is ok and you havent spilled fluid i.e oil down in to the connections that could be causing a short between wires

That happened in an old vectra i had yrs ago..Bt the reason it happened in ours was some little belt was wore and was slipping..Then it broke al2getr and didnt work at all

Hmm, i think some oil spilled when i changed it, didnt think it would be the cause. Will take a look tomorrow. Thanks.

its ur air flow sensor had same prob wit my ek9 just unplug it and blow it out wit air gun.

just bumping this to correct this thread in case someone finds it, for the record ek9 does not have an airflow sensor.

i had problem with that in my old mb civic checked speed sensor in gearbox, clean it it sorted itself out for a wee while. month or to later happened again but really bad. wouldnt work at all, took dash out and the loom into the back of speedo made sure connection was good, connected up and worked fine.
