guys have a problem with my cars speedo, every so often if i drive hard the speedo needle spikes up and down and then stops at 0 then might climb up intermitinly, im guessing its the speedo sensor on the gearbox. maybe its come loose due to the harsh twin plate clutch or its fudged altogether..can anyone tell me the location of the sensor so i can check it out? a pic be cool also, google has not helped!:((
cheers,
steve

It's pretty much right under your intake manifold throttle body. just look right down there you will see it. there is one 10mm bolt holding it in. Ill try get a pic for you

Has your car been converted to MPH from KPH? If it has the converters are usually fitted with scotch locks badly i had the same problem till my garage re wired it. :nice:

Here is a pic of another honda but your speed sensor will be in the same location

If this sensor was dirty or whatever, could this make you speedo read faster than you are actually travelling?

Or could this be down to dodgy wiring of a speedo converter or cheap converter used?

cheers lads will have a look before work see if that helps! :D no the car still reads kph so no conversion has been done!:)

I don't know, but different rolling diameter will do that, what wheels and tyres are you running?!

Yeah my crx had this problem too although because it was happening so rarely I didnt bother about it.

Don't mean to hi-jack your thread but my 9 does this also... the needle spikes every so often and the speedo actually under-reads by bout 8mph lol Gonna have a poke about with that conector plug l think!

both of those sound like bad connections at the converter. Had this on a EK9 last month. Took it out and soldered all the connections and it was fine after that. Was put in with scotch locks the first time.

Possibly.

Going by the wiring of the immobiliser that was on the car when I bought, if the same dude fitted the converter, it probably is a dodgy wiring job!

well this is now sorted, the plug had a come a little loose, probably from the clutch having such a bite, anyways disconnected the block connetctor and cleaned it with wd40 and its grand since so happy days!:)
