I've been with Sky insurance for around 6yrs now and have always been happy with them until today.

I am going to be part exchanging my DC5 Integra for a EK9 next week. So I phone Sky up and tell them all the mods, details etc they tell me that my premium is going up by £59 the year is up in Sept.

Ok I thought but I was expecting it to be lower or at least the same.

I then speak to the chap who I am part exchanging the car with and his Insurance is going to be going up as well.

WTF!

How can both of our policies be going up! One car has to be less to insure than the other one.

Sky please explain yourselves!

:(

As far as i'm aware buddy its across the board... alot of insurnace companies are putting there premiums up.

I have 2 years no claims this year and got a quote form my current insurers ( elephant ) for £39 more..... i called swift and told them this company had put my premium up and they gave me a much better quote.. £275 less !! worth a shout..

sorry to hear about this though. congrats on the being the new owner of an EK9 though :))

No it can't be that as I've only had the DC5 for three weeks and I paid an increase then.

I just changed from a Audi A4 2.6 v6 to my MB7 (2.0 TDi) and prudential wanted another £300 odd pound on top for it !!

Spoke to swift and got it for £200/year

Sky you need to up your game, i just rang them back for them to explain how this could be and the chap started going on about post codes etc.

So your telling me its cheaper to insure a DC5 Integra in my post code and cheaper to insure an EK9 in his postcode...

Looks like i'm gonna have to do the phoning around getting quotes **** :(

i just got charged £46 admin fee for swapping over insurance from dc5 to cheap bmw 323 worth about a grand.ok so th dc5 has been written off and still establishing fault but still £46 quid and policy is up in 4 weeks

I see your frustration man but I'm 21 drive a EK9 and my insurance is a small fortune starts with a 3 anyway and I'm talking grands, just thought my outrageous prices might ease your pain a little,

Worth every foo king penny though by far the best car I've ever drove, a constant big smile on my face whilst driving justifies the insurance :drive:

Hope you get your query sorted anyhow

I just think they pull figures out of thin air!!

Not at all happy

:(

I know a chap who used to work for swinton underwritters... he was actually able to do as you say... Make the figure up himself as what he saw fit for the person..

Its a mocary..

The insurance industry is run by crooks and fraudsters, there is no understanding to be had of it.

My insurance on the 9 has gone from £1200 (age 20) to £640 (age 21). Which i'm chuffed with!
BUT! my shitty £100 pug 106 1.1 costs me £450?! Mental.

Please tell me your not spending 3k a year to insure a 9!??

There was a program on this exact same thing just last week. According to statistics its our nations claims for personal injury cover that have increased insurance rates. On top of this statistics show that there is less accidents on the roads these days; However due to fraudulent claims, insurance companies are being forced into putting up there prices (Apparently)

I don't see how they can keep raising insurance AND on top of that petrol prices are increasing so fast. They are forcing them selves into a even worse position people in the future are just simply going to refuse to drive at this rate. HOPEFULLY at some point they reduce prices instead of this 40% increase per year which is going on at the moment. This is all despite the fact there are LESS accidents on the roads at the current period in time. Just Unbelievable these days.

I thought my quote was bad 2.5k for the ek9, so I just left it. Get the car later when it's cheaper to insure! Not worth paying so much just for the insurance.

You really have to phone about for good quotes as online quotes are pretty pants IMO.
