A friend of mine took his S3 to the dyno the other day to see were he was at with it!

He Bought it standard about 3 months ago, sin's he has done:-

K&N pannel filter
30L front mount intercooler inc 3" pipe work
Forge dump valve
Custom pipe works manifold & down pipe
Sports CAT
Full miltec Cat back system
Custom Codes "stage 2 remap" (the worrying part)

Stock they are 225bhp:secret:

Hear are his graphs he sent me!:wow::wow:

I can not belive these when i saw them!
I told him to get on to CUSTOM CODES & send them a copy of the graph's to see what they have to say about there "REMAP"

There answer was "Dont bother sending them us as they mean nothing, it is how your car drives on the road that matters"

I cant belive there are companys out there getting away with work like this!:angry2:

I have had a chat with WILL about this & sent him the graph's to have a look at, needless to say i have told my mate to get him self a propper EMS (Motec ect) & get over to see WILL to get it mapped properly, stop messing around with silly companys who just re-flash stock ECU's!

I take it the car wasnt dyno tuned when reflashing the ecu? The power delivery must be lumpy enough with all the dips across the power band?

No aparently they tuned it on the road & it took about an hour! (so my mate tells me)

TBH mate i have driven this car myself & it dont feel as bad is it looks on these graph's, I myself would not be happy with it (which i told him when i drove it) but my mate seemed to be happy with it untill he took it to the dyno & saw this!:wow:

I would like to see the map for this but aparently they will not give him it because the own the right's to the softwere & no one else has it!

If i was him i would be down there with graph's in hand demanding an explanation, but he is a little soft & wouldnt challange a fly! lol

never get the german scrap right!!

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

its on a stock turbo, it has minimal mods, power looks normal, what was your friend expecting?

It's not really the power that is the problem, altough the company who remaped the car state 265bhp from a Custom Codes "stage 2 remap"

It's the lumps in the power curve that is worrying part for me!

oh i see, well the dyno is a dyno dynamics setup in shoot out mode so the numbers are actually decent 250whp is nearly 300bhp but i digress. The lumps in the map are obviously not good, but its a generic tune is it not?

Similar to what cobb does for subaru's, i often see people blow up there engines with these pre-tune setups... not safe at all IMO and should only be used temporarily to get your car to a dyno.

No aparently not a generic tune, he told me thay took the car out & tuned it on thwe street!

Totaly agree with you there blinx, that is why i have put him in contact with WILL to get it mapped propperly!:D

I would just love to see the map & find out what is causing those lump's in the power curve!:secret:

wow that's really crappy for a street tune... I wonder if its knocking and the ecu is pulling timing, i would advise your friend to be very easy on the car until it gets tuned again...

That is just what i have told him to do myself mate!:nice:
As i have said though i have put him intouch with WILL, so it will be all sorted soon enough!:win:

is your friend (s3) faster than you Jim??

He bought his S3 well after i took my 9 off the road (5-6 months ago)
But we will have a play once im back out, but he will have no chance once mine is back out! (i ant had it off the road for nothing!:secret:)

is that whp or flywheel?presume its flywheel

Your right mate flywheel!

In Haldex on dyno's you don't get the correct power of the car. If you want to see the correct power of your friends S3 just disconnect the fuse from haldex(under the car before haldex its very noticable) and then dyno it one more time ;) It is known that Haldex is showing not correct number in any type of dyno's.
