Roll cages in daily's - are you guys insane??

A well padded cage wont cause you any injury at all. No matter what speed your head hit's it it still shouldnt cause that much damage. Hitting your head hard on a padded cage is probably like hitting your head when wearing a helmet...helmets save lifes. Maybe a bare cage will hurt!

When i crashed a civic my head smashed through the drivers side window...didnt hit no metal!

all you needed was a set of window nets lol thinkin of getten a set just for looks
Yeah. There are also instances known where people died from actually wearing a seatbelt. But that doesn't mean the effect the other way around is much bigger. Who says it isn't with this?
heard a story bout a guy i know he didnt were a selty belt 1 rolled the car land in a feild on the wheels. he ended up in the back seat. he looks in the drivers seat and where the steering wheel was was rite through where his chest would have been. really really far pushed in but im not sayin dont where seatbelt i never set off without it or if not that my harness. it feels weird to me not weairing a seatbelt

i think daily drivers with roll cages are fine if your willing to put up with the hastle of climbing in the door ( provided you have side bars ), its all down to the owners preference. however, i do believe daily driver or not, it should be done welded in.

i had a bolt in cage fitted in my rx7 when i collected it, and although it was bought to be my track car, for the months at the beginning when i started work on it it didnt take me long to remove it. i didnt feel the security i would with a weld in

not to mention i personally found it very annoying anytime i went to tesco, garage, petrol station, anywhere really climbing in and out became feeeckin annoyin!! lol

The shop near me does VERY nice weld in cages to NASA and SCCA spec. They had one they showed me in a 2010 Mustang drift car they were working on. Very very nicely made. They're going to be welding in one for me for the seatbelts/rear....no front bars yet until it gets taken off the streets to be a dedicated racecar.

IMO any decent multipoint cage is INCREASING safety, bolt-in or not.

Yes a harness is designed to flex, but i cant see the overall length increasing to such an amount to increase your body height to damagerous levels.
Plus the wider head sections on bucket seats and the reduced neck/head movement of harnesses reduce the risk.

Plus the only way for your head to hit the cage is for a impact on your side.
My head is the last thing to worry about as a car comes through my door.
Then i would be wanting door bars, - all part of a cage.

I see it as parts that complement each other for safety -

Harness - get a nice FIXED low bucket seat.
Roll cage - get padding.
Padded roll cage - get FIXED low bucket seat & harness.

Simples....... :)
