hello there, i'm new to this and i need help with my new rebuilt motor i spent lots of money on!

ok, i bought this B18C1 block of a old homie. he basically sold it because it was spitting out smoke and oil out the muffler tail pipe. he said it was just the rings so i went ahead and bought it.

it is standard bore with JDM ITR pistons. i went ahead rebuilt the whole motor with new OEM parts such as ACL race bearings, OEM piston rings, OEM ITR oil pump, OEM water pump, OEM pick up gasket, oem head gasket.

i built my B16 head from my Si with:
skunk2 duel valve springs and retainers, supertech flat valves, brand new OEM valve seals, skunk2 stage 2 cams and cam gears.

i had RNR put the motor together and burned me a basemap to break in the motor. i dropped it in. started it up and drove it around town. never took it pass 3K RPM. Max 3.5

it blows out alot of white/blue smoke while driving and on idle. what could be the cause of this? the block was not honed out or anything. could that be the problem? and i checked the spark plugs and cylinder 2 was slightly wet with oil at the tip.

:angry2:

IMO

Could be

Cracked bore/hairline fracture

Stem seals (If new not fitted correctly these are easy to damage)

Oval bores (Was the bores checked to see if they are within spec)

Damaged piston rings on installation...

Maybe be headgasket???

Some things to consider...

Get a leak down test. This will help to pin point the location.

bore was not checked..but i'm pretty sure there was no hairline crack. the walls were still very smooth. only think i can think of is if the rings weren't seated right. i still havn't tuned yet

if the valve seals were in the wrong way or damaged, would it actually cause that much smoke to come out? must only be in one cylinder cuz only 1 spark plug was kinda wet. right?

Where the piston rings clocked properly ? What grit hone was used ? You say it wasnt honed out but an engine that has had new rings needs the cylinder walls honing still so that the new rings can run in. My advice would be to do a compression and leak down test before you go any further. I doubt this is down to your stem seals to, it sounds more ring related to me....

did you ever figure out the problem? I have the same EXACT BUILD! but my block and head were freshly honed/port and polished.. I have around 10,000 miles on this build and it smokes MORE AND MORE everyday...PISSING ME OFF! it burns a bit of oil.. but has had no loss in power just annoying because it smokes..and it is pro tuned aswell! AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!

hay,,i've got the same prob with my ek4,still looking for it but as of now no luck
Good stuff man! Lookin like your making progress! PM Stezie on here, he is yer man i brought up to the garage the week before i left.
