pdapaul's YellowSpeed Time Attack EKK24 on ITBS

What a brilliant weekend at Ten of the Best. The car felt great on the Saturday, and by the end of testing we had a set up that we were happy with for the main comp on Sunday. They change the track overnight so there's no advantage to the guys who made it Saturday, and it's 5 times runs for qualifying. I topped my class after quali and then we were into the shootout.
The top 5 run twice again, and then the top 2 have a 1 run winner takes all shootout. The rain came down with about 30 mins to go, so there was little time, but we made a few changes to help in the really wet circuit. After the initial shootout I topped the class again, with a decent margin (my wet time would have won the dry quali). Into the shootout, and I ran second, so as I'm sat on the line I could see the time I had to beat. He did a fantastic job and knocked nearly a second off his best time, but still 2.5 seconds from my previous. I drove hard , but with no risks, and thankfully came home first and still 2.3 seconds ahead of second.
It was a fantastic turn out of Fwd cars, and on any other day I think that any of the top 5 could have won it. I think I was lucky that my setup just suited the track as it was laid out.

I was stoked with the result, and completed a treble
Fastest fwd in practice
Fastest fwd overall
Fastest car overall (fwd, RWD,4wd) in the final shootout.

The car was awesome both in the wet and in the dry, and the package as a whole was just right at home on the shorter tracks. I know i may be biased, but I genuinely can't thank enough the people who have helped me this year.

In particular Yellowspeed & TDi North, for their help, advice and support. There's nothing fancy on the car, just off the shelf parts that these guys supply and fit everyday. The bits I've got are no different to the bits they would supply to all of their customers. I think it's a testament to the quality of their products that I drove it there, thrashed it for 2 days and drove it home.

Back to reality at a long circuit with croft in 3 weeks :)

Great result :nice: Are you using the TDI north drop in cams and how did they perform on the dyno when the car was mapped?

Yes I'm using their Stage 1 drop ins. The stage 2's give a little more bottom/mid torque, but I don't really spend much time under 6k, so not beneficial for me.
Ive made a conscious effort to stay away from dyno figures, as I'll get too involved in them. I believe that roughly over my jdm cams they gave approx 10bhp across the board

That is a very respectable time indeed! I didn't get to make it up there myself, but a customer of mine (Kenny in the Evo 5RS) managed 2nd place in the 4wd class from what I hear. Think his best was 33.4s, which really puts into perspective how good a time yours was!

Cheers :nice:
After a few adjustments the car was just dialed in..felt awesome.

If I can ask though, why did the 4wd guys struggle in the wet? I would have thought that it would have extended their advantage over fwd/rwd?

Awesome car mate, a real big credit to you. Just spent the last hour reading your build thread.

Could I just ask, what Team Dynamics are they? The 1's or 1.2? And what size/offset are they? Thanks

Cheers matey, really appreciate the comments :)

They are TD pro 1.2 15 x 7 et35
Brilliant wheel, strong, light and pretty cheap tbh!

He did mention he was struggling a lot with standing water? I don't know how wet it was though!
He will have been trying to tame around 800bhp though - probably wasn't helping
I don't know what the track layout was lik

They clear your YS BBK setup without any spacers? Perfect, I was looking for a set of rims that will clear some big brake set ups if I choose to go down the big brake route in the future. I heard of the TD Pro 1's clearing fine but not the 1.2s

Well done buddy!
Shows how important engine response is in the tight stuff, plenty guys behind you running a lot more power than you!

Ha ha...that would do it!!
It was really wet, and no drainage, so quite a bit of standing water.

Yes no problems with clearance. You are right though, the pro 1's have a massive clearance!
