pdapaul's YellowSpeed Time Attack EKK24 on ITBS

I haven't got one bud.
I wouldn't bother with the wing unless you run next to no grip on the rear for the tighter corners?
I'd be interested to hear your alignment and how you find the track when you go.

Video is on my build thread.

It's definitely a difficult compromise, trying to get the stability under hard braking and keeping it loose and fast.

Just had a watch of your video and I've come away frustrated!! You can see that everytime you go to stick it into a tighter corner there's no where near enough grip. Car looks good and planted on the rear. Your initial turn seems ok, and your exit looks good. It's that point just after turn in that you seem to loose grip, and I can see you having to back off.

Longer corners look ok, and I could see your lines getting better as the session progressed. It looked to me like you weren't confident even in the long turns though. I could see you were wanting to let it run wide at the end of the pit straight and really lean on the front but the steering wheel wasn't giving you any confidence!

Front end is far too twitchy, even on the straighter parts you seem to be correcting all the time. Looks like bloody hard work!! I'm a complete novice with suspension, I just get other people to set it. I tell them how it feels and they change it to fix it. Doesn't look like it will take much though to get it just right.

Yeah the diff and the toe out has made the front really twitchy.
Your spot on its straight after initial turn then boom, no grip have to try and feather the throttle and steering to get it back and find a balance but with the diff and no pas it's over powering me tbh.

I kept trying to push my luck on the entry to sertees and paddoc, that just made it run wide.
Glad I'm not the only one to think that it's pretty bad, may have to resort to getting the rear out and just get used to it.

I don't think it's the diff and PAS tbh as I have just about the same set up as you and I never even think about it(except when parking). I think it's the geo that's causing the issues. When I first got mine it would try and pull you all over, and tight bends(like roundabouts) were just awful. In the rain especially you wouldn't dare let go of the steering wheel with one hand as it could just try to rip it out of your hands. I had the front end fettled and it was like a different car. If your on and off the throttle mid corner the diff isn't going to be working properly either, and the weight transfer is probably going to make that worse.

I could probably get away with your settings, but your boosted power is just taking over. The balance you have is trying to get enough tyre on the road to go and stop in a straight line, whilst keeping enough geo to keep enough car for cornering. I think it is that balance that's out. With mine they can set it a lot more aggressive as I'm not trying to destroy the Tarmac on acceleration. If you had my settings you'd corner great and then wheelspin to the next one :)

you over estimate my power lol I'd be surprised if it was making much more than 240hp in that vid. This old c4 block isn't as fast as the forged block I had.
I had mtf3 in the box before the trackday but felt that it killed the diff and I wasn't really getting good use from it, Put a thicker gl5 grade oil in the box and it's now a beast! Do think the toe out is the main cause though.
I'm not quite experienced enough to know what im doing with weight transfer etc but no doubt it will come with more track time.

I though you were running nearly 300! Sorry bud my bad ;)

That makes your time even better then!! In last years TA a 290bhp fully stripped FD2 was doing about the same
:woot:

Nah not on low boost.
The forged block was 263 at around 8600rpm
This engine is noticeably slower and I was short shifting.
I'll do some reading but I think another half degree camber on the front and set toe to 0. See how that goes.

Still not happy with the front lol
When is brands TA? I live close by so I could pop down and watch if that's no problem with you?

Only a couple of weeks away!!!!
It's Sunday 21st. Should be good as its Tunerfest South as well

Be good to meet you bud, pop down

Think I'm off that Sunday aswell.
Yeah I'd like to meet you aswell, also watch some good racing/time attacking.

Sorry I couldn't make it today. Organised abit of karting with my dad for Father's Day.
I was watching the live timing though!
Noticed on the practice session you topped my PB by about 1tenth.
Did you go any faster in the final session?

Also wondering what sort of power car29 is making? 52.9 is very impressive!

Shane you couldn't get down it was a good day.

No I got the same in the final 55,7..I was on for low 55's a few times but traffic ballsed it up. Another session or 2(or the next time I'm there) and I think the times will come down. I wasn't really prepared for the track, even with your video and playing pcars etc.

Neil Wrenn is running north of 430 whp!!

55.7 will be my new target next time out then, will try not to cheat and use the boost controller though lol

First timeout on track, as you can see it's almost as busy as a track day. Really tricky to get a good lap in. Apologies now got the brake noise, I'll be sorting that next as it does my head in :)

Don't fit the anti squeal shims they said...it will be fine they said :)

Love the sound of this car!
Is quick aswell isn't it, surprised at its straight line pace tbf

Cheers bud. The audio on the vid doesn't do it justice tbh, but thankfully it's muted so you don't get the full effect of the brake noise ha ha..
It definitely goes well. I think with more seat time and dialing out the understeer I got later on I can get into the 54's. Like I'm sure everyone finds if it not your daily I just don't get enough time in the car. For the next 2 rounds I'm doing the track day the day before, so will hopefully have some set up from the start.

I'm pretty much seeing this year as a test for next year now. I'm quite a bit a head of the guys behind, and quite a bit behind the guys in front, so not making many changes now till the off season. Just adding cams will only get me so far towards the guys in front, so I'll build seat time then think about more power later.

I'm also pretty much a novice on the car side really. I've only done a couple of track days in cars, so pretty pleased with how it's going really. The 5 or six cars behind me are all running more power, and in their 2nd or 3rd year of Time Attack, so the little EK is holding its own. I'm learning about setting the car more and more each round as well which is always good.
