"I have rung the dvla today and they said send a letter explaining whats wrong with the details and they will amend it accordantly."

I am not going to saying that what you have been told by the DVLA is wrong. However my case with the DVLA was not so easy.

Purchased the car knowing the log book said 1.6 Honda civic 5 door hatch. Put a covering letter with the log book to send off to explain what it should be. After 4 weeks of waiting I received the log book.... Guess what ??? Nothing had been changed!

Rung the DVLA must have spoken to at least 6 different people telling them the same story that its a ek9 type r. The same answer I kept getting was to contact Honda directly and ask for paperwork from them to confirm! Now I rung Honda UK who couldn’t do anything. I didn’t try Honda Japan because I dont know about any one else but my Japanese skills are non existent so didn’t even rule that an option.

Anyway back to the DVLA once again asked to speak to a manager. At first he was giving me the same answers as the others but after a while he started to wear down. Any way to get my log book changed I had to provide pictures of the car from all angles and including the chassis number and engine numbers along with a covering letter to explain once again what the log book should be.

All the information had to be provided to his manager so that they could give it the all clear to change the information! After another two weeks of waiting the new correct log book turned up.

Thats because its under a 5 door hatch, they are totally differnt cars the only thing, that my logbook is missing is the model everything else is correct so i dont think it will be as much hasstle as your having. I rung the dvla yesterday and they said send a letter explaining whats missing. They will have all documents there if not i have to go to the dvla myself to registering my other 9 so ill find out then
