So i have got a new oil filter and oil, but am being told i should flush the engine aswell. So i re-install the oil bolt and fill it with flush, run the engine with the flush in it for a couple minutes and then drain that before putting on the new filter and putting in the new oil.

Is it compulsory to use engine flush, or definately recommended.. All seems like a pricey ordeal!

I've never bothered with engine flush if i'm honest. And I definitely would NOT run the car without the oil being in it, it will end in tears!

I never recommend using any type of flust. It totally brakes the oil down so theres no protection there what so ever. If i was you i'd gently run it for a bit on that oil and change it again to get it all out. Who ever told you that you should use it need shooting. Look after the car, change the oil when you suppose to with decent oil and you'll be fine.

I think the idea is to add the flush to the old oil maybe and let it run for 10 minutes or so and then drain... there is only like a liter of flush that i just bought but dont know if im gonna use it now - you guys seem adverse to the idea :)

Stay away from the stuff. Its safer pissing in your oil that using that stuff lol.

dont use engine flush lad.. Just let all the oil drain out and top up with good new oil and keep changing your oil when due

Ok that is enough against the idea to put me off, that stuff is going back to Honda asap for a refund. :D

no issues for 20 years NOT using any flush...just change it every 3k miles.

would avoid using flush, i've seen a video of the head guy at spoon warning against the stuff as it upsets clearances and gets stuck in there breaking up the oil! :nerv:

Once its in, its hard to get out. Over time it will dilute with more oil changes, but its still in there.
