** My EK4 B18.5 :D turbo build **

Never really signed up to any web sites before but seen as though my beast is nearly done and my mates dont appreciate hondas i thought i'd share my build with you lot :D

where do i start then....

The car is a v reg green (i know horrible colour, not for long though) VTI and has 91k on the clock

I brought the car as a b16 turbo about 2 years ago, not knowing anything about hondas (especialy boosted ones) i had no idea all the parts used for the turbo build were no good, the turbo was a cheap and nasty £150 ebay job, so was the intercooler, the manifold ect ect, as all these things kept failing i made the decision to take it off the road and do it properly!

£15,000 later i am nearly done!

I did my research and decided i wanted a b18 to turbo so i started looking, eventualy found one that i was happy with (proven low mileage) not that this mattered in the long run as the internals have all been changed now, looking back i could off saved alot of money buying a none running engine!

I sent the engine off to a japanese specialist to build, since he has had it i have changed my mind soooo many times about what i want out of it, originaly i wanted a reliable street car that i could drive every day and not have any bother, NOW its an all out monster that i imagine will be barely able to drive on the road.

The current engine spec is as follows:

. B18c4 with b18c5 integra head
. Over bored 0.25mm
. Low compression CP pistons 8:5:1
. Eagle steel rods
. Darton steel liners
. My engine builder got in touch with brian crower, he gave him the specs of the cams he wanted for me (extremely wild) and brian crower made them for me from a blank shaft.
. Brian crower titanium valve springs and retainers
. Brian crower valves (coated in some fancy stuff but cant remember the name lol)
. ARP rod bolts ect ect
. genuine oem shells
. Edelbrock victor x inlet manifold (port matched with throttle body)
. Omni power 70mm throttle body
. (the best bit imo) HUGE genuine externaly wastegated garrett GT35r capable of over 600whp :D :D
. Spooling performance top mount manifold (work of art)
. Tial 38mm external wastegate
. HKS 50mm BOV
. The new bosch ID 1000cc injectors
. vision motorworks adjustable cam gears
. vision motorworks dizzy cap with extra tower
. vision motorworks performance rotor
. Vision motorworks 10.2mm leads
. MSD coil for external coil conversion (with a nice shiny chrome bracket lol)
. Hondata s300 with the pwm components to run boost by gear
. adjustable fuel reg with guage
. HUGE 700bhp intercooler (ill get it to fit somehow... somehow lol)
. 3" mandrel bent alluminium boost pipes
. wideband lambda sensor
. custom made ally rad
. I have a HKS back box just need the rest made up when its done which will either be 3" or 3.5" straight through de-cat
. Im in the process of making 2 extra breathers in the roker cover and a custom catch can
. B18c4 1.8 vti gearbox with oem lsd (need to do synros in 2nd and 3rd:angry2:)
. stage 4 exedy clutch kit with 6 puk clutch

There is probably more but i cant think at the moment.

To be honest the body of the car is a complete mess, the only good thing its got going for it is that it is a facelift, and the gold rota lightweight's :D going for full respray in champ white in a few weeks.


cheers for reading and ill make sure i keep this thread updated, im hoping to make about 500whp, trouble is i havnt found anyone to map it yet, again if anyone knows any where good then let me know, im in the west midlands but dont mind traveling for an experianced tuner, ive heard GOTBOOST tuning in wales is good, any one had any experiance with him?

you need to get some pics up asap! how much power you aiming for? Streetability depends more on the clutch/suspension/powerstearing/engine mounts, my car has only 380bhp but is not streetable at all due to stiff suspension, agressive clutch, stiff engine mounts, etc... the whole car vibrates, its loud as hell, the car judders violently on every take off, etc...

im aiming for about 500whp, traction shouldnt be too much of a problem with the boost by gear setup, also all the judders, bangs, aggressive clutch ect ect all just adds to the fun for me :) ive had many cars before with solid mounts and on off clutches and i can honestly say it doesnt bother me, i'd rather be extemely uncomfy and go fast that be comfy and not go fast if you know what i mean, im a power freak!lol, as for the pics i took hundreds this morning (even gave the car a little go over with the hose :D) and now i cant find the adaptor wire to put the pics off my phone onto my computer, can you do this by bluetooth or not? i have a HP touchscreen computer if any one knows a way, if not i will go and buy a digital camera 2moz and put them on using that. Picked up a bonnet 2day as my old one was dented and didnt want to vinyl over dents incase someone poked the vinyl and left a big indent! what boost are you running on your GT30r? looks well presented in you sig pic.


Is the person that does the mapping on this forum or not?i would like to have a chat with him if you have a contact number, if not just give me his forum name and ill try and sort it myself, trouble is i cant leave PM's as i have not reached my 25 post's yet, hopefully he reads this.

You should be able to just take the card out of your phone and put it into your computer, you may need an mini sd to sd adapter or other kind depending on what card and card reader you have.

Trust me traction will be an issue even with boost by gear, its just the nature of the beast unless you have traction bars+biased ply drag slicks. I have boost by gear and 205/50/15 nitto nt01 tires and i still spin, 8psi in 1st, 10psi in 2nd and 12psi 3rd 4th and 5th.

It sounds like your asking me if my tuner is on this forum, if that is what your asking unfortunately no, my tuner is not a member on this forum and you cannot contact him, he's extremely busy wrapping up a single turbo V8 Lexus GS400 :naughty: comfort and power!

Not sure what your saying here, but if you are implying Will (ek9turbo) tuned my car, that is not correct at all. My car was completed, tuned, and running before his project was finished and before he had even started tuning cars.
 
cheers blinx, i do need an adaptor thing, it wont reach in without one, deffo getting one 2moz so i can show u all my parts :) i dont think that he was implying that he mapped your car, would be slightly awkward as were both in the u.k and your in america :):):) by the sounds of it im going to have to get some semi slicks, are you running standard sleeves on your build as your only running 13 psi, to be fair though your power figure is really good to say your only running that boost, plenty more potential left in her!what size is the hot side of your turbo, mine is a 1.06 :S lots of lag but lots of power :):):)

nah bro...I wasn't implying that. I'm one of the ole skool members thats been on here long enough to know that Will did not tune your car:nice:

danp1uk was asking me if the person I mentioned who does the mapping (will) was on this forum, as he did not have enough posts to pm him...hence why I posted up Wills email contact, so he could contact him directly man.

sry i havnt updated, had a few money issues but all is sorted now :eek:) really thinking about just leaving it the same colour and just sorting the body work out, engine will be with me in 2 and a half weeks, i cant bloody wait to start putting it in! Took a few pics of things ive brought, will put pics up of car i the morning when its light. The top mount is work of art and is made by spooling performance in america.

What kind of turbo is that? It looks a bit too big, also appears to be facing the wrong way... I have theories but i am not going to say anything till you respond...
 
thats a garrett GT35r duel ball bearing, the pics of it facing the wrong way is when i first got the manifold. it wouldnt fit the other way until i rotated the housing but i wanted to see what it looked like, there is a pic there of it the right way aswell after i rotated the housing, blinx how can you say its too big when u run a 30r?hundreds of people in america run them with no problems at all, the manifold was built for this turbo.

sorry pics of car will come, im waiting for my mate to burn me a cd of the car before i took all the front end off, the car looks like a complete state at the moment so i am waiting to show you what the car looked like before (which still wasnt very clean) what other pictures do you want, while im putting the engine in i will do a blog of the different stages, i really want to give it a full respray but money is tight at the moment. its more of a 'go fast' car tbh. The car will be running and ready for mapping by the end of May at the latest. I really cant wait, ive waited so long for this now. I dont earn a huge amount of money so i have to buy things then live on practicaly nothing for the rest of the month lol.
