My E*9 build

Only a little update, got my braided oil lines sorted, soo all i need is to make a adaptor bracket for the turbo :)

Also tomorrow im going to be making a light weight fibre glass plate to replace the sunroof as its quite abit of top heavy weight thats not needed and i hate sunroofs!:nice:

well as if sair before i dont like sunroofs, and i planend to get rid of mine wellllll.......... i did :D

completely removed the sunroof, all the wiring...everything! weighted 4.6 stone :|
I made a con-vexed glass fibre bung wich imitated the sunoof with aluminium brackets moulded into the pannel. I also made a cross section and glass fibred that in ( where all the strength comes from) didnt want some idiot running over my car or somthing and falling though ;) as well as it acts like a brace over the roof

If your wondering why the cross section was put in after..... I installed the fibre plate then cut the cross section too long so when fixed to the top of the pillars it would bow upwards in the middle creating a vertical force which when layered with glass fibre would internally be very strong. The strength comes from there being glass fibre being layed vertically apposed to just across the plate, its like bending a ruler then flipping it 90 degrees then trying to bend it, its alot harder!

Anyways less of the lecture

If you attempt this i strongly recommend using a safety glasses, the amount of resin i go to the face n hair was horrid! ow and gloves too, nothing the local petrol station carnt provide in box form ;) haha

When the plate was installed i finished off by smoothing it over with filler, the amount if dust that stuff makes is insane!

When for a quick blast get rid off all the dust :D

And a cheeky shot of my car coming up the ally way to the back

Gave it a wipe down with a wet cloth, and some brake cleaner get rid of any impurities and gave the filled and sanded bit a blast with some primer waited for it all to dry and slapped the vinyl wrap on :D

Didnt really have time or hands to take any photos as it was a pain in the arse and its still not right :(

Im pretty happy with the end result for now but.... i will be doing it again at some point as the vinyl i used has some marks on it and the smoothing of the roof needs to be improved as there a little bits where you can tell if you look closely, and it will just annoy me unless its perfect

What you guys think?

Top work man. Serious effort gone into that! Looks like a clean job in fairness though :)

You're some man for the DIY :) Good work as always. What's next on the list?

just saw this now great build man and im very impressed with all the DIY jobs only thing im confused about is how your going to the car yourself? can this be done from home i would have imagined you would need special equipment? anyway savage build as i said

Savage spot to leave the car!!! I wish i had something like that instead of leaving it in the front garden!

Cheers for the comments guys :D iv basically just got a farily large double garage at the back with a semi work shop, but guess you just need some motivation and confidence to do stuff.

As for the next job im thinking, sort my brakes out as if got a set of big 4 pots for the front and 2 pots for the back, flocked dash and put ma harnesses in :)

also go the turbo to go on as well but i still need fabricate some parts when i get time got lots of uni work on at the moment :(
