Dear all,
my engine sound metallic after 8k rpm. any idea? thx.

after 8k? haha is it that loud? Check everything is tight around the engine bay and nothing is rubbing metal on metal.

I gather you drive a Ek9? Is it modded?

Does it sound like crushing an aluminium can, and only @ full throttle?

Could be the engine touching the bonnet at full tilt, check for contact.

Could be needing engine mounts replaced

Well, its the usual sound of detonation or maybe even pre-ignition.. However, if it happens offen (more than 2 or so seconds) then you will do some serious damage to your engine which you would of noticed.

If detonation was happening, it's likely it would be happening in all cylinders, pre-ignition would only be happening in 1 or 2.

Have you noticed any power loss, also what type of fuel grade do you use?

Here's a little clip of what it sounds like. (It's quite faint, but easily heard)

YouTube - Detonation sound

It could be pre-ignition, check the timing of it :)

Has this car been remapped ? Or is the ems totally stock ? If its stock then you should'nt be getting any sort of det.

Do yourself a favour and throw that heap of junk off the highest building you can find. I bet your problem has something to do with the pile of crap. Trust me mate, with a Honda your far far better off with a chipped p28 with crome than the emanage.
