Matt's Jordan 26 build

Not updated this thread for a while now. Been waiting 6 weeks for a special shipment from the states.

So what we got?

Moroso turbo sump :)

What else we got?

Oh it looks like the be all and end all of sump gasket leaks :)

This bad boy dont flex much or squish out when you tighten the bolts up

May aswell fit them then aint i?

Out with the old n in with the new

Chuck abit of threadseal on the turbo oil drain plug (for now)

Revised gasket fits like a glove

Well, thats the end of the sump leak once n for all.

Me=1
Oil leak=0

Things have been rather quiet on here over the past few months, the car is in winter storage until around May.

Which really does frustrate me being as ive ordered a few more things that i really wanna get fitted.

Oh well ill have to wait until spring now.

First of all i have a set of brand new wheels.

Some Rota Grids in Royal gunmetal with polished lips

First time ive ever had some brand new wheels in boxes (its like Christmas came early for me)

Finally i have bought an EP3 steering wheel

Still unsure what tyres to go for, i remember Toyo Proxes and T1R's being rather good for their money but alot could of changed in the past 5 years that i aint been bothered about wheels for.

It has been a very long time since ive updated this build thread.
Not a deal has changed, the car was in winter storage from September to April.
But she is back now and I've been doing some bits and bobs.
Finally settled on some tyres for my brand new rims, going to try out the Toyo T1R's.
Got them fitted.

Also got the EP3 wheel fitted.

Since it has been in storage I have bought a few more pieces for the build and been having a few more idea's.
Managed to get hold of this custom made oil catch tank

A ten row oil cooler

Plenty of braided line - 9m to be exact lol

Some RTA bushes coz mine are shagged

and a very rare collection of little goodies even some OEM barbed breather ports, got an oil filter sandwich plate, an OEM B16A oil cooler plate (now modified to be used as a spacer) Oil temp sensor, oil pressure sensor extender line, a PCV valve breather box blanking bung/plug, a new breather for back of block (for where it used to go to the OEM PCV breather box) and an OEM B16A Oil filter adaptor.
You wouldn't believe the trouble and the length of time it took me to get all of this.

When finished my engine will have 6 breather ports, I am going for a similar setup to this. Just using the B16A oil cooler plate as a spacer so I can fit my sandwich plate on.

Had a genius idea for a non permanent leave-no-trace front number plate, made my self a custom sized vinyl plate and mounted it to a ferrous sheet.

Mounted eight of the world's strongest magnets to the rear of the bumper

and I end up with a very good tool holder, it also holds the number plate

Had to modify the custom made oil catch tank, I want four entries and not two.

Drilled myself some holes.

Put my 10mm barb 90 degree swivel joints on their

Put my lines on there just to start it off

Got the tank mounted

Made myself some lines up

Plumbed them in

Had to make some custom brackets in order mount my oil cooler

She's on (just not plumbed up yet)

Wanted to keep the air-con block off plate so had to cut carefully to keep it

end result

Like the idea with the magnest behind the front bumper!

wonder how long those stock sleeves are going to live ... should have invested in a block guard @ least .

Will soon find out lol. Race tech boosted a bog standard C4 with 14PSI of pressure and that's putting out 460 its still running fine. Sure its done 100k too. I'm really not concerned I'm a respectful driver who looks after his engines especially when I have done this much work to it. If she goes pop I'll cry haha

I'm only wanting 400-450hp anyway. The main thing for me is reliability. You can easily make an engine twice its HP but I consider it useless unless its reliable. Once she's on the road I picture myself just driving it and not pissing about with it on ramp every five mins its been on the ramp far too long as it is

I'm liking the idea now I've pulled it off. Nice smooth bumper when no plate on its a win win

Thanks mate, she's a right mess at the moment its been in bits since Saturday afternoon. Pissing about fitting new breather ports and sandwich plate etc, hopefully connecting all the lines up to feed the cooler tonight. Its a right head**** lol

Shame I'm not closer, I could help pass you spanners n whatnot whilst drooling all over that engine bay

Haha made me chuckle that did, I think the woman is getting sick of helping me now lol

If I'm being 100% honest - it looks far better on photos

SO..... Been busy all week. Literally getting straight back from work and jumping straight under the car. I slept very well Friday night I don't think anything could of woken me up lol

Managed to fit my oil cooler and three new breather ports on the back of the engine, also been doing abit of touching up and fixing oil leaks.

Had to ditch the factory fitted PCV breather box/catch can thingy

Got a nice freeze plug to whack in the bottom hole!

The top hole will have a 14mm breather port fitted, so will the opposite side on the left of the oil filter

So it's out with the unwanted plugs and boxes

and in with the new

To fit the B16A2 Oil warmer plate I had to get the grips on this bitch to twist it out (was not easy at all)

Warmer plate on

Sandwich plate on

New breather filter made from the existing port that went to the PCV box

Left breather hole pipe

Both breathers piped

The hardest thing for me was working out a discreet but safe route for the oil cooler lines to go, after a lot of brainstorming and headscratching I decided on the main being above the driveshaft and behind the alternator and the return underneath the driveshaft and round side of sump.

Main safely clipped to the inner wing

This is how much clearance I have on the bottom one

I do expect a lot of you to be advising against what I have done but I am willing to take the risk and have thought long and hard about it. The engine cannot move due to the strong Avid mounts, the top line is clipped in on top of subframe and on the inner wing, the bottom line is cut perfect to size and is secured by a joining clip on the top hose

The two new breathers are routed to the catch can

and for the last time (I will give up if it fails) I have refitted the sump due to a small leak on the front right, this has been driving me mad for nearly a year. I attacked it with more gasket sealant a no holds barred approach.

You can see by this photo where it was leaking.

Finally I repainted the intake many due to it oxidising during winter storage, also decided to paint the writing white and repaint the rocker cover writing and logo.

Here is what she currently looks like (Got a lot more touching up to do I just keep messing it up working on it all the time)

After a few weeks of fannying around chasing oil leaks etc, decided to crack on with some worthwhile stuff so I can get some satisfaction from my efforts.

Recently gave the leather seats a good treating, smoothed out the rear wiper hole in the bootlid, undersealed the undercarriage, re-set valve clearances and gave her a compression test to see what's what. Good results they are all within 3psi of each other. To those that who were not aware I have been fighting a leaky sump for nearly a year and finally fixed it. Wasn't the sump it was the front end main seal in the oil pump. Just three jobs left now and she will be ready for sprayshop.

For those interested......... This was the culprit of all my oil leak problems

Damn thing, well. Its over now. I win.
