Ok folks

I have recently completed all the bolt on upgrades to the EK9 and thinking of adding cams next (BC Spec 3+ or 4). Even if I don't add the cams I'm sure my current set up would benefit from a mapping session. I'm still currently running the standard P73? ECU

Now, in terms of a new ECU I have a choice of P28 for Crome mapping or a Hondata S300. Which one do you think is better in terms of bang for buck?

WHO would you recommend to map either of these systems? I know most would probably say Henry Roy in Scotland and I'm sure it's worth the trip, but any other options in England to consider as well?

Would like to know any useful thoughts.

First of all the hondata 300 is without a doubt the better choice as its a system that can also be tweaked after you have mapped you car to adjust for any other mods by you self with simple online research and there is a place in called tdi north bit unsure and another place in shefield bit forgot the name that can do a good tune

Its called rdt and his name is wil he is supose to be really good he is in shefield think his name is ek turbo on here also tdi north is in warrengton heard good reports also but they lock their maps so once its been maped their you need to keep going their you cant turn your launch control on and off or mess about with vtec engagement or out

I would agree with the lads above on the hondata, it is favoured by many tuners yet I don't own one, i do have cars on chrome, install and tune at a fraction of the cost of hondata. (as well hondata company are cu@ts but thats nothing to do wit best setup)
Id say at any stage if mods have been added a tune will give you the full benifits of even different air filter
Also heard nothing but good reports about tdi north, but never used them.

Thanks for contributing to this :nice:

I guess if I get it mapped then I would like the option of tweaking it slightly (although not very likely).

Does the Hondata system have finer adjustments/parameters than mapping it on Crome then? Does anyone have experience with mapping at TDI North?

Any other places?

Racetech in sheffield, im going to use them for my b20v, they sounded experienced.

Yeh I like the idea of tweeking maps at a later date if you get me and chrome is freeware so its pretty easy to do by someone whos knows what there at.

Yeh hondata is the top choice for honda ecu upgrades, I cant rem the resolution of the peramiters of each. read reviews on chrome and neptune, Neptune is a step up from chrome. vtec6000 i think deals with all 3: chrome, hondata and neptune he'd be the person to best explain the main differences, I think if you say his handle 3 times in a single post he will appear :))

Erm....ok

vtec6000
vtec6000
vtec6000??

I may have to invest in the Hondata if its the right kit, although I don't anticipate going mad with tweaking, it's nice to be able to do some little things on the laptop.

Then a matter of finding the right place to map it, any ideas on price ranges I'd be looking at?

Yeh, fully agree with you the best way i can say it is trough a conversation with a guy who i bought a few parts off,
He has an accord euro r mapped on an omex ecu (mega money) the dogs nuts like, he wanted it mapped on hondata, but tuner likes to up sell, why make ££ on hondata when he can sell this guy omex for £££££, the guy bought it fair enough its his car, daily driven at that! personaly i think its over kill on any road car, hondata is the same to a lesser extent, neptune is good for half the price and chrome for slightly less again,
Any way best of luck with it, Must be urban myth about the other chap or hes sick of talking about it, Should be a sticky as i did a lot of searching before I picked.

When you say P73 ecu, have you got a b18c as that is code for b18c ecu. PCT would be b16b ecu.

I stopped using Crome many years ago, it was very buggy back then maybe it's better now. In terms of features Neptune is the best IMO. Hondata is good also just doesn't have as many features compared to Neptune. Ectune is another option.

Can you give a full run down of your car's spec?

would €250 be cheap for a p28 Neptune ecu + harness i have no idea of what ecuz cost so if ny one could help as i am buying one tomo?

Managed to remember and find this thread!

I'm about to purchase the Hondata S300 V2 and associated kit to go with in the next few days, so have narrowed it down to a few possible tuners to take it to map

TDI (Essex/North)
CPL Racing
RDT (Will?)

The engine spec I will be mapping is:

JDM B18C standard internals
AEM V2 induction
Skunk2 Pro 70mm TB
SKunk2 Pro inlet manifold + thermo gasket
Maxim Works 4-2-1 manifold
Decat
Fujitsubo RM01A cat back exhaust
SARD fuel reg
Full length DC2 Skunk2 radiator
Air con delete

Which tuner would be best? The service Ashy C got with Will at RDT sounds very attractive.......can't decide

This year is just about getting the most out of the new bolt on parts, next year is going to be about cams, pistons and internals etc, so another mapping session then.

Give Dan a call at advanced motorsport & Engineering near Silverstone (Northamptonshire), totally flawless service and he came rec'd by Will @ RDT for my build.

Hondata and Will at RDT, perfect!

My philosophy was if you buy cheap you will buy twice.

I had a day with Will chatting and watching him work, fantastic person!

have you tuned on crome? because your philosophy doesn't work here. crome pro isn't free but it's cheap and it does all the same things that s300 does:D

i'm running a p28 ecu tuned with crome pro with mac boost solenoid, i'm running boost by gear, hi/lo boost switch, antilag launch control.

but i see that you are going to buy a s300 if you haven't done that you could get your car tuned with crome then you could buy motes ostrich, crome pro license and after that you have basicly s300 for a fraction of the price:D

Thanks mate I will try AME as they are not that far from me :nice:

Hi

Was that definitely Crome pro or was I'd Crome GOLD???

I have access to the older free version of Crome through a mate/tuner and I'm not 100% sure that it can be used to successfully configure BBG?
