I dont get it, they remove stuff like abs, the red recaro´s etc and call it a race base but put in air con ? what´s that all about ?

i couldnt agree more.... Makes no sense....

What is the actually weight difference from this model to the normal model?

It just doesnt seem like a type R without the interior....
 
if this car was intended to be a "lightweight model" wouldnt the a/c, stereo, and electric mirrors be taken off as well? im sure theres more things that should be out, those are just the few that stood out...???
 
just looks like an ek4 rear bench and the front seats look identical to the recaro's in my mates evo 4? is this not just a modified ek9? :S maybe im wrong but just never heard of these before

THIS CAR IS CALLED A RASE BASE BECUSE IT HAS MORE POWER THAN THE NORMAL EK9 STANDARD IT OVER 190BHP AND 2 REDUCE THE WEIGHT THEY HAVE REMOVED THE CARS

THE REASON THIS LIGHT WEIGHT STILL HAS AIRCON IS BECUSE WELL THINK ABOUT IT HAVE U NEVER BEEN TO JAPAN ? IN THE SUMMER IT IS SO WARM :nono:
 
Anyway lads every one 2 there own i think this car is a belter and i will be 100% going for a look at it once it arrives in the uk its a local guy near me who is selling it
 
i was about to just stick up for you there buddy

racebase models keep the aircon as in japan it is very hot

id really like one of these as a track car
 
aldo, they dont have more power. Its the same engine.....
 
yes they do have more power think you need to read up a bit more on your honda,s ive imported 8 type r alone this year i know my stuff my source in japan builts drift cars for a living he also confirmed this !!! look on this org there is also information the ther race base a guy from scotland was selling :nice:
 
You are wrong about it being race base....
basicly when you bought a ek9 from mr honda you had options.
Honda knew this car would be used you track's etc so offered everything as extra. Basicly the recaro interior momo air bag steering wheel and electric windows alog with abs were optional.

There are stock engine with honda n1 main pully so will prob make a few extra horses due to less strain on engine.

i have seen completly standard 1.4 interior in new ek9's when they came out 10 years ago.... so basicly ur are buying a less equiped ek9... nothing wrong with this i just wished people stopped calling them better than the full trim option... same car!!!!! :shocked:
 
cheers mate at last someone who knows what there talking about lol am goney go and view this one once it arrives in the uk think it will be worth a look av been looking for a good race base for ages all theses guys on here have never heard of them

:angry:lots of people on here have heard about them, search and you will see! a race base is an "empty model" origionaly intended to be sold to race teams, you can also get models with less options such as electric windows, people usually refer to it as the "light weight" model altho its just a basic model. people get the two confused.
oh and that e bay advert is incorrect.
16 inch is the biggest size those itr wheels come in,
i doubt those recaros are lighter, they'r the same size and shape!
and i'm sure it should say short shift linkage, not "quick shift gear box"
false advertising is not good.

i agree with what you are saying they are more race focused thoe that 1 comes without

ele windows

ariel

didnt come with a stereo

and many othe weight redctions

it didnt even have privacey glass

they are defo another 5 bhp i do think that 1 is mint ive had alot of ek9,s the reason i like this one its diffrent not so common and the miles are so low with a full service history from japan the only reason am not importing 1 myself is becuse the exchange rate is so low with the yen so i wouldnt make a saveing cheers


good new just called the seller there he said he will sell this 1 for £6850 a think thats a bargin its only coverd 35000 miles with a full service history and its got some nice mods
