Kozy's EK4

Minor update, I went and collected my old B16a from my parents place this evening, going to give the bottom end a check over and bolt it up to the B16B head and see if I can get a running combination out of my growing parts bin. Since the B16B rebuild is on hold due to financial commitments, and I am loathing being relegated to timekeeper and teaboy at the local autosolos, I thought I might aswell see if I can cobble something together as an interim solution. If it works, then it gives me loads of time to build the B16B bottom end properly.

There's a sprint on the 3rd of September that I want to get on so I want to try and get the thing running again with the minimum dollar spent. I don't really care if it's a bit down on power or burning a bit of oil, so long as it works.

This idea makes loads of sense to me, which of course means I am going to find cracked liners and/or bent rods pissing on my bonfire later this week...

Kozy, let me know if I can help you out. Happy to help. :) to get you on the track again.

Cheers Tama, always appreciate how helpful you are to members on here!

Small update today:

Do you see any problem here?

I think I've got this 'breaking cars' business a bit wrong you know...

I have an event on the 11th Sept, while I doubt that car will be road legal, I hope to have it working to trailer it down and open some whoopass on the nippers who have stepped into my place since the Civic has been immobile.

thought i'd finaly comment and say keep it up mate looking good so far.. not that you need any help or encouragement but it all helps..

:) :run: :)

Lookif good mate thought you wer getting rid?

I may still sell the car on once it's fixed and been running without fault for a few months, depends on how much use I get out of it, how much having two cars drains me on insurance and running costs and so on, as I do still quite fancy an ATR to replace this and the Mondeo as a single all rounder. I just really could not bring myself to pull it apart when it came down to it though, I'd much rather see it go on as a whole working car to carry on being spanked about by another Honda nut.

In addition, I'm still not what I call 'finished' with it. I used this car at my first competitive event over 5 years ago, before I even owned it. I did my first trackday in it. It's the first car I've modified, the one I've kept the longest and the one I've known the most about. I said when I bought it back in 2008 that I would not part with it until I won an event in it. That has always been my aim, and one I've been getting gradually closer to, but since I am yet to win an event or a trophy, reaching those landmarks in another car would feel a bit wrong. I'm a sentimental old fool really. :p

Things are looking promising though, as I've finally managed to find what I would call 'reasonable' insurance on it at sub £400... :D

glad to hear your getting things sorted! you'll have your hands full in a few months!!!

I was thinking we were going to see that B16B MX5 build coming Lol

Haha, as much as that would rock, it's too much work, and definately NOT the sort of project to be undertaking in my position now! Although if I was to do it, I think an easier way of doing one would be to leave the engine spinning the wrong way, and have a straightcut gearbox with a flipped diff...

Would love to see you do it bud , it would be an awesome build Lol

I would imagine the cost would start to mount up fast.

It's alive!!!! :D

Just need to bleed the clutch Once the manifold has cooled and hopefully it should be ready to go tear some arses open at a solo tomorrow!

Just caught up with this!

Glad things are finally starting to come together for you! :woot:

Make sure you keep us up to date on any events you compete in :))

Awesome buddy!:nice:

Just got back, the car rocked, so good to be driving it again after 5 months! Didn't burn a drop of oil, water usage is still high but that's down to a leaky radiator. Unfortunatly I burst a brake hose on the last run, but all things considered, I can live with that. Sadly I didn't do the car justice with my driving, managed to wallop cones on every run.

Hopefully I can now consider the engine woes over for the time being, and go back to focussing on the problems I had before with the handling, namely a wonky brake balance and massive grip differential betweeen the axles.

Glad to see you got it up and running again bud :nice:

Nice to see there was no hanging about once it was built ;)
