if its a digital clock.......take it that it needs to be taken to a specialist place?

how easy is it to clock back the miles yourself? as i've only had stupid quotes of £100 or so to convert the KMH to Miles.

also are the EK9s cable driven or digital. or are there differences in ages etc??

mines a 97

I could do it for you or talk you through it on the phone, its not difficult really :)

alright mate i will keep it in mind...your a wee bit far away to do it personally but a mate of mine a t a garage is gonna look into it as i would like all the proper docs if possible.

also i had a look at this part that this thread is about and its one of the worst most flimsy converters i have seen..spend a few quid extra and buy a better one i would say...also been told by a couple of people who bought them that they have been know to die a year or 2 later.

glad someone else has heard bad things about these things to...at least the site you posted up puts the universal ones in a proper casing of some kind.

good little website you found there..will be calling them tomorrow for a few bits :D

I fitted my speedo converter i got from kilburne tonight and works perfect.

Strange not seeing the needle to up to 100km/h though.

bump!
im going to be needing one, so which piece of kit does everyone actually recommend?
thanks

I thought it was easy enough. It just connects to the wires coming from the speed sensor on the gearbox so all i had to remove to get to it was the pipe for the air filter. its a bit fiddly working down where it plugs in but i cut the whole connector off and took it inside to wire in the converter. once i had it all in place i added connectors to the wires from the car and to the wires from the bit i cut off so it just clicked back together then sealed it up with plenty of insulating tape.

thanks for the help!
sorry about the n00b question before i order, we are talking about the electronics ones right?

Hi can you not fit the converter at the back of the cluster rather than above the gear box in the engine compartment ?

yes you get a mph sticker with the converter. i decided not to bother dismantling the dash for the sake of a sticker though.

I imagine you probably could fit it behind the dash if you want, as long as its somewhere between the speed sensor and the actual clocks.

Right I will try and fit it at the back of the clocks and see how I get on.

It will work fine behind the clocks but the car will still be restricted to 180km/h (112mph) if you fit it up there.
Dunx

Hows that Dunx ? I don't have a wiring diagram in front of me so I guess the speed sensor wire heads off to the ecu as well.

because factory wiring the speed sensor signal goes to the ecu and the clocks signal line is a splice from that line. :nice:
