K20 or B20 vtec?


have always loved that vid purely for the noise lol, either the supra aint chucking out that amount of power or the k20 is built up to fcuk !...... or both :D

i never said any of those options were 'less cool' that was just one mans opinion, and every one is intitled to that i guess.
 
i thought so to,untill i read that the supra was lagging on boost the day it was filmed,as for the fully gutted k20atyper ek,he only had bolt on aftermarket parts,its just another good example of Power to weight ratio..
 
its all about power to weight...my k24 eg with stock internals/cams and breathing mods wound in and edged passed a 'supposed' 500bhp big single turbo GTST
 
To be honest it is proper fast, i mean 13.0 quarter impressive stuff, BUT for that civic to rinse out that Supra like that the supra is bloody slow until 130MPH odd..... It got literally left behind?? Also a 380WHP Evo would murder it! Thats like what 430BHP @fly?! No thats just silly..... Something is not right about those races, either the drivers or the "claims"...

That supra with 400BHP would have a power to weight ratio of 262BHP per tonne...

That civic assuming it weighs 1000KG which is light for an EK civic it has around 240BHP per tonne........

Whats that about power to weight ratio and that video making any sense what so ever...........? So not only was the Supra technically supposed to win but it actually got completely left behind... yeah right.

The car's quick no doubt, but still doesn't really seem like VFM, I'd personally just buy a faster car.

How comes a K swapped EK is so much faster than an EP3 anyway? They're only about 50-100kg heavier AKAIK?

Try not too take the internet too seriously, for all you know the civic could be stripped out completely and the supra could be packing an ICE install with loads of sound deadening etc, you just dont know :nice:

Thats prity much my point of veiw also.

Why spend 6k building a K20 eg or ek when you can buy a DC5 for that and have a nicer newer car and If you really want the extra go. Spend 1 or 2k on it and make it faster or even do the k20/24 convertion on that.

I know theres the saticfaction of having a sleeper but everyone knows EK9's are fast and anyone with a lil bit of knowlege know EG6's aint far behind.

I know, trust me i dont...

I was just making a statement.. Even still that civic is stripped as you can see, so that would normally bring an EK shell down to around the 1000KG mark... Even with a 100KG ICE install(which i doubt as thats ridiculous) it would still have a power to weight ratio of similar to the civic if not more, so the extreme arse whopping would still make no sense...

The internet can fool alot of in-experienced people and mislead many. Its irritating! Racing/dragging has been part of my life for years, i know when things dont add up...

Usual because when people do kswaps they do all the bolt ons and Krpo, so make around 230-240bhp and 160-170lbs ft compared to standard ep3 power of 197bhp and 142lbs ft.

Then factor in the 100kg weight difference and thats why EP3s get left for dead aha.
 
Even if it didnt blow up and stuff? I cannae make up my mind whether to do boost or kswap.

Would think differently if I hadn't had as much bother as I have had with it. If it had been a trouble free engine I'd be more inclined to say go B18 boost instead for the money. But it's a bloody expensive game

Considerin the rate I skelped passed Bairds K20 EG with a 550hp Evo stuck to my back bumper unable to get past me on track....... It's these things that are makin me keep goin with the turbo engine. Once I can get it right, it'll be a monster. It was then and will be better once ready.

I'm more on about for a bit more reliability and get a bit more use, I should done a K20/K24.

And it never blew up, I snapped a camshaft and bent some valves.
