Hiya people!
I hope this is in the right place, apologies to the Mods if it isnt.
Well I thought I would share with this forum a write up I did on a recent trip to Nur.
I took an insane amount of pictures during this last trip, totalled well over 3k, but I wanted to make sure I covered as many aspects of our trip as possible... so here we go.
My brothers and I run our own company, and this trip to Nur was our first trip where it was fully supported and organised by my brothers and I, and using our company assets.
I asked a few of my closest friends to come along and support the trip with me, just incase things go wrong... its always best to have people that won't rip your head off when things don't go to plan.
So with all the planning done... the fun could begin... and the first Mark On Europe trip was born
but this next photo sums up how I felt on the ferry over there... all the planning going through my head, making sure in my mind that I had done everything to get everyone there safely and to make sure to bring them home...
So we headed out, made very quick time across the continent, got the 10:30 ferry from Dover and arrived at the Nurburgring campsite at 7am the next day.
So then the camp was made, which happened to center around two system linked xboxs... probably shouldn't have got those setup first...
We had 5 days to spend in and around Nur, so I wanted to make sure I kept the entire group all entertained and did as much as possible, the track was only open in the evenings on a few of the days, which was totally fine as I showed the guys the local area and the amazing public roads that surround the Nurburgring, such as the road through the middle from Nurburg to Adenau and so on.
The whole area however was a construction yard! They were carrying out some seriously cool projects alongside the F1 track, a bar and club area, a bunch of new hotels, and some shops, oh and the biggest surprise of all for me was the roller coaster... This all appears to be finished now, so can't wait to head back there.
Apparently meant to mimic the acceleration of a Formula 1 car, and runs alongside the main straight...
This was the first Mark On Europe trip, and it was also the first road trip for our new Caterham 175 roadsport, what a way to prove itself... to take it to the ring.
Around the campsite my brothers and I went out adventuring in the Caterham... seriously that camp site is massive! Could easily get lost... or end up doing doughnuts in some of the pitches... hehe
Found this abandoned building in the campsite during one of our explorations, I fealt it was asking to be used for a photo or two.
The messing about didn't go so well at one point when I realised I was actually alongside one of those static caravans skidding round and round the pitch alongside this guys place... there was alot of angry German words...
At this point we were pretty much the only people in this campsite... by the time we had finished our holiday there... me doing what I was doing was the least of his worries...
Anyway I took my group to the Nurburg castle, something I have always looked at in the past but never got round to checking it out...
I seriously love this pic of my younger bro taking a couple of pics at the top of the Nurburg castle tower, looking out towards the F1 track.
Also just want to add that the restaurant at the bottom of the castle is awesome! Seriously recommend it. Nur burgers ftw haha
oh and I did take some pictures of cars... here are some track shots from the trip...
Had a cool chat with the guys in the black R26Rs, both worked for Renault in Paris and were there for a publicity event, basically from what they said, Nur was very Ford focused this week due to the new Focus RS being there and they had been sent to sabotage the successm very cool
This next picture is actually quite sad, it was my first test shot when I arrived at Brunchen corner, I later found out it was actually heading out to get a biker who had died on the last apex of the last corner, he was the second of two people that died during our 5 day trip to Nur, really reminds you its a scary place, that WILL bite back.
There were some unexpected vehicles on track too...
oh and there were 5 of these red audi R8s with the new v10... some big swiss banking firm from what I understood.
So back at the campsite in the evenings during the trip, and fueled by various alcoholic beverages
We wanted to make sure that we were entertaining for the other campers
So we got into fancy dress...
and proceeded to go around the campsite singing classics like "I need a Hero!" and "I am the one and only"
The party car was therefore born...
That picture shows us actually pulled up on someones pitch probs singing to some dodgy power ballad... also would like to point out we put alot of thought and effort into that... its actually a generator in the boot powering those lights that are wrapped round the car... safe huh
A few other pics from the campsite evenings...
However there was a negative outcome from the abuse we gave the party car...
Best not to use powder extinguishers as a smokescreen... enough said.
Doing crazy stuff around the campsite actually led to even more crazy encounters with some of the german campers especially...
They proceeded to drive up to our pitch, offer us beers and doing burnouts to congratulate us... was kinda strange but we just went with it, the language barrier was well and truly broken down.
Found some fantastic cars in and around the main car park of the Nurburgring.
I have to say I can vouch for the amazing noise this car produces! I was going round in the Caterham, feeling pretty confident with my time and all of a sudden this thing unleashes v8 hell to my left... and screams past... scary hehe
Have had to split the post in two... the rest is below
