Jack's PY K20 EK9 now going K20/K24

I see ya have powersteering in, what belt did you use did you remove the air con pump ?

My engine never had air con and i used a 7pk1370 belt. I couldn't find out what size i needed so i just kept going to my local parts shop until i found the right one. Its off a toyota auris 06> 2.0D non air con model if i remeber correctly. You can by a kit that removes the air con from karcepts.

Looking good, plenty of hard work put in so far....Whats the next plan of action?

Thanks mate. My plans now are to get a fast road set up at Grinspeed and get the valve clearences checked and reset as they should be done every 25,000 miles. I've also got an EP3 spoon N1 with a larger diameter pipe on its way so when that comes i'll get a custom mid pipe made for it. I'm going to decat it tomorrow as well. I've also got some yellow doors coming as mine are in poor condition and full of filler!

And the best update i've done so far... It passed the MOT today! Months of hard work finally paid off. Although i haven't had much chance to drive it yet and i'm in work on nights tonight so it'll have to wait :(

Had a bit of bad luck on monday. Took the car out for its first spirited drive and the engine started knocking. Upon inspection I found the big on bearings on cylinder 3 were fooked. My job now is to take the engine out this weekend and my engine builder will pick it up. Whilst getting the crank re-ground i'll get it partially lightened and balanced along with the flywheel then re-build with uprated bearings. I'll post a picture tomorrow of what's left of the shell

I'm a bit gutted it was only on the road 2 days but these things happen. I knew i'd have problems at the start of the build but i didn't think this would be one of them!

The picture of the car with the airwalker front bumper isn't mine lol but thanks anyway :)

dude, i had the same problem just 4 days after i got my k20 dc2 tuned!
the sump had been cracked so it must of been starved of oil...
but i managed to pick up a complete engine for 650!
i know how you feel man, it sucks!!!...

Ahh gutted. I've already had fd2 cams fitted with a new timing chain and had it mapped so i'm just reparing this one. Its going to cost me £400 for the crank ground and lightened and balanced with the clutch and flywheel, new bearings and fitted so not to bad. And i've bought a low milage dc5 oil pump to go in it as well

Well the engine machiner that's dojng my crank is taking the piss and it has been over a month now :(. Apparently they ordered the wrong bearings twice and have had problems with couriers. Anyway here's a picture of the shell i removed...

Yet more bad news I'm afraid. My engine builder cannot seat the new bearing so the conrod is buggered. So I've decided to buy a complete accord K24A3 engine and go ahead with a K20/K24 build so watch this space

Shame about the badluck with the engine. However the new engine in this platform will be an absolute monster.

I agree with 689R, will be amazing.

Cheers guys. It shouldn't take to long to do when I get the engine. Then I'll get a 3" exhaust made up and see what TDI North can do with it on the dyno. Then hopefully get to Japshow finale on sept 30th to upset some 'faster' cars :naughtyx:
