is it worth importing an ek9 these days?

just wondering if its still a bad time to do this or has anyone done it recently? and how much would a high grade ek9 cost me again I got it into ireland?
 
It would be very expensive man! Im gueesing to get a mint one from Japland would cost you around 6500euro? + shipping 800 and can be more for a container and then paying all the extra taxes and registering it you could be looking at 8k!! If i were you i would contact Duncan if you were really thinking of it! He would be able to give you a better estimate!

Is not worth paying 14k for anyway! Hopefully with the less coming over now and the ones over here being broke the remaining ones will go up in value!!

Its mad the way its gone. Id say there is only a handfull of clean EK9's left in this country and none are coming in at all.

Thing is though the majority of Irish people are too fcuking tight to pay the extra and get a really nice example... sickens me this country..

Ye its insane! That type of money is insane!

There is only a few! The amount of tatty genuine ek9s i see around is so upsetting! Its rare to see well maintained one! Thats so true! Poeple wont put the money into them anymore! I like to think i do! I just hope im not the only one! :(
 
Are you sure it would be that much tho? Didnt Duncan just import that savage yellow dc2 and hes looking for about 9k for it I think... and that car is somethin else. I would have thought it might cost between 6 and 7k but not 14k.

I agree that most people in this country pay the extra money for a really clean ek9. I'd much rather pay the extra money if it meant I was getting a clean well looked after example

From the last few really clean EK9's through the auctions have been around the million yen mark say €10k FOB.

Now add everything else:

* Shipping ~€800
* Customs duty 10%
* VAT = (Above total) 21%
* Customs broker fee ~ depends
* VRT ~€1100
* Road Tax.

Very true , its what everytbody else thinks that puts people off spending what they want
 
the cheapest you will get anything shipped is circa £3000 on the road so even if the car is free it still will be £3000. true story :)
 
type-r-dunx is your man... he imports some of the cleanest ek9's or dcy europe ;)
 
defo not the time to import mate no. You'll just be getting robbed blind at the moment sadly :(
 
Exactly what these guys are saying. Japan seem to be holding onto to the great examples, I was looking a while back about importing and there are still Rx's there with 4 or 5k km's on them, but would fetch about 14-15k gbp before importing lol. I would contact Dunk, Auctions seem to be place to get value for your money.
 
I'm in the process of importing one at the moment!

The exchange rate dip is the biggest killer :(
