Information About EK Sway Bars *USEFUL INFORMATION*

Just so I can be clear saxophonias sorry! I have an ej9, i can just basically unbolt my sway bar and put an ek9 in with no hassle :)?

And for a rear sway bar, bolt on an ASR subframe?

Sorry!

if your ej9 has front swaybar, then it's a complete swap. If not (some 1997 models didn't come with a stock front one)then you have to check whether we have the same lca and whether there are the holes to bolt on.

i would like to ask some questions

I drive an EK2 without factory equip front sway bar.
Now i want to add an EK9 swaybar, what are the things I need?
Will it tear off my subframe?

ek9 civics have a stronger front subframe but i don't think this creates any worries as for causing damages, since ek4 has also 26mm front swaybar.

for street use only and i say street coz here we have no tracks at all

if i keep oem 22mm front sway and add asr subframe with 22mm rear ek9's sway bar how the car will be on street ?
had anyone tried this combo?

i run aftermarket coilovers :secret:

btw asr says that asr subframe can be used with oem ek9's sway bar mugen's and asr's sways only so i should forget the st 19mm sway at the rear..

the best thing would be to try yourself and actually test the car. You can always get a 26mm ek front swaybar very cheap anytime.

One question from me.
I have the ASR rear swaybar kit which is is really good, apart from the noises coming from the metal end links. I want to get rid of them and get some oem stuff.. Can i use ek9 or ek4 REAR end links to my 24mm asr swaybar?
Thanks a lot.

Hi there

I know this might have been asked a lot before, but I will just ask it again. HeHe

I have 96 EJ6 Hatch, if I wanted to add a front and rear sway bar setup, what are the parts which I can source from the dealer?

Fronts -
Which LCA, Sway bar,Endlinks should i source from the dealer. What else should I source out?

Rears -
Aside from the ASR subframe (just the bracket itself), what should and which can I source from the dealer?
Trailing arms.sway bar,endlinks?

Because I can source out with a great deal of discount if I can get from the dealer.

Any input is greatly appreciated. I am also located here in Canada. If that would make any difference in codes (CX/DX/Si and such)

Cheers!

Ok folks....

I asked a while back about fitting the DC2 front roll bar to an EJ8 civic coupe (the EK chasis model with D16Y8 engine as stock). I believe this is the same model as the Civic EX coupe in the US?

Anyway, I came away understanding I could fit the front DC2 roll bar, so long as I installed the DC2 front LCA's and had all the appropriate drop links etc. The roll bar that is standard is the 22mm one.

However, it appears this is not possible, the DC2 front LCA's simply don't fit... and after attempting to fit the DC2 front roll bar on my standard LCA's, it will fit, but hangs rediculously low, (lower than my mudguards!).

So my dilemma, is it possible for me to fit the DC2 front roll bar? If so, what LCA's do I need?!! If not, I'm guessing I need EK9 roll bar + EK9 LCA's + EK9 suspension forks + drop links ??

You've got an EK chassis car, so you need EK chassis bars. You may well be able to get the DC2 one to fit, but IMO you are best going with bits designed for the job. :nice:

That's a pain, but probably the best option!

But, am I correct in thinking I need: EK9 front LCA's, EK9 forks, EK9 drop links etc in order to fit the EK9 sway bar?!

If your car does not have a sway bar as stock then yes, you will need EK4 / EK9 LCAs. You'll also need the D brackets and bushes.

How comes you are fitting a front bar anyway? You realise this will increase understeer right? IIRC, your spring rates are fairly high (12/8 right?) so you shouldn't really be needing any more anti-roll?

I already have a front bar as stock, it's the 22mm one! I just wanted to upgrade the front, I've just installed a DC2 rear one, which is 23mm and I want to dial out some potential oversteer (not had chance to drive it much yet).

However, I don't know if my LCA's are compatible with the EK4/EK9 roll bar, front the info posted, it would appear not....but as I posted, I was also under the impression that I could fit the DC2 front ARB along with the DC2 LCA's and droplinks.....which is not true. I just want to be sure before I buy an EK9 roll bar, whether I need the LCA's and forks or not?!

You shouldn't have any understeer with that setup. I've taken a bit of a guess at the corner weights for your car, but with your current setup you should be seeing about 49.5% front diagonal in a 1G corner, which is pretty much perfectly neutral.

If you've already got a front bar then I think the EK9 bar should go straight on, save yourself some money though and get the EK4 bar, it's exactly the same minus TRT (Type R tax).

I am not 100% certian though as I am not overly familar with the coupes.

Thanks pal, that's very helpful :nice:

Bringin this old thread back to life... hopefully :) I need help... Here's what I've got:
97 civic sedan
blox rear LCA
Si endlinks
either a USDM or JDM ITR rear sway
ASR brace

I've got everything in except for the endlinks... they're too fat to fit into the sway bar bushings. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.
