Information About EK Sway Bars *USEFUL INFORMATION*

Ok brilliant thanks quick one though.

USDM?

CDM?

UKDM?

IIRC??

What do these mean. I know the US is united states and UK united kingdom but the DM and C?? Also the IIRC?

The "DM" is of course Domestic Market, just like JDM is Japanese Domestic Market.
IIRC is If I Recall Correctly.
ASR is A-Spec Racing.

Iv been told if i want to fit a EK9/EK4/Si (all the same) front anti-roll bar i will need the shock forks aswell as the front LCA's

can anybody tell why i need to change my shock forks
thanks
Matt

Did you ever find that out pal?

I'm looking at buying ST Suspension front anti roll bar, which I think is 24mm DIA, there is the option of a rear ST Suspension one as well....but the DIA of this is only 19mm....which confuses me as I thought the CTR one is 22mm?? Why would it be smaller? :nono:

I have Tein coilovers fitted, other than new droplinks, will I need anything else?

All advice very welcome! :nice:

From what I've collected, it seems that putting the ST front bar on a car that didn't come with a front bar is a bitch. It's a weird wrap-around-the LCA with a bracket setup. You're better off going with a 22mm OEM front bar (you need the endlinks and matching LCA's) or the OEM 26mm from the EK4/EK9 (again you need the LCA's, forks, and links.)

The reason you need new shock forks when going with the 26mm EK9/EK4 bar is because the LCA's on these are different, and you need the forks that will match up with the LCA. Not sure if it's a wider or thinner fork, but you need them nonetheless.

Also, the ST 19mm rear bar is for the average street user, who never goes to the track. They will feel a great amount of newfound response from the 19mm bar and be happy with it. The more track oriented 22 and 23mm OEM bars cause more oversteer to balance out the FWD cars tendency to understeer. This is great for the track, but the average street driver may not want such a big bar, as they want to stay on the road.

Cheers dude, very helpful info!! Going to go for the ASR rear sway bar kit with subframe brace (22mm or 24mm). Have to look into how much the front OEM EK9 bar is going to cost me....with the LCA's, endlinks and forks....any ideas?

So I definitely don't have the right front LCA's or forks on my EJ8 coupe SR? :((

I have limited knowledge on what came stock on honda's overseas. I don't think you have a front sway bar, but if you do I wouldn't even bother upgrading. You don't really have to buy the EK9 or EK4 front sway setup, it's easier to just get the alternate lower LCA's and sway bar from a civic or integra that doesn't have the 26mm bar.
Bigger is not necessarily better when it comes to front bars, so you don't need the 26mm.

I think I've decided on the DC2 23mm front sway bar and 22mm rear. Both come with endlinks. So does this mean I will also need DC2 front LCA's?

I'm assuming my rear LCA's will be fine for now, just with the addition of a subframe brace to fit the rear sway bar.

Cheers by the way!

You need the regular 94-01 integra front LCA's or 92-00 swaybar-equipped civic LCA's to run the sway bar, just as long as it's not the EK9 or EK4 LCA's. You don't need new forks when going this route.

Plus make sure you have the bushings to go with both the front and rear bars. Don't use old ones.

Sorry to bring this up again Dino-Spumoni....but did you say that DC2 front LCA's won't work on my EJ8 coupe.....

I have bought:

Integra Type R DC2 23mm Front and 22mm Rear Swaybars (with droplinks, bushings etc which I will replace)

and

Integra Type R, N/S Lower F. Wishbone, JDM, DC2, UKDM. on eBay, also Engine Tuning Parts, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 15-Nov-08 20:56:42 GMT)

Integra Type R, O/S Lower F. Wishbone, JDM, DC2, UKDM. on eBay, also Engine Tuning Parts, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 15-Nov-08 20:58:52 GMT)

but it states 'needed to fit the bigger ITR swaybars'

Are these compatible with my EJ8???? :please: If not, can I make them compatible in any way?!

Looking at those they are the ones you need:nice:. It's funny you ask after you bought them haha.

When you change the bushings are you going for OEM, hard rubber, or spherical bearing? I know PIC performance offers a full hard rubber bushing kit that just came out. I wouldn't really use urethane unless you want to change them more and deal with squeaking, plus they're known for binding.

Do you have an ASR rear brace or EK9 rear subframe to use yet?

Thanks for the swift reply Dino!!! :nice:

Good to hear they are the ones I need :D I know, should have asked before but it dawned on me after I clicked "purchase"

Not sure which bushings to go for....my current ones are old and squeaking at the moment so need can't wait to get all this fitted! What would you reccommen, hard rubber?

I haven't bought a subframe brace yet, I'm trying to find one now! Only place I can find the ASR ones cheapest is US ebay, but shipping will be expensive! I think vtecdirect stock them but I need it asap really! Any ideas?

Dino i have the ST 24mm front bar, you are correct, some alteration is required, the end result is very positive but it may be too much of a headache for someone that installs it at a home garage, i have luckily still have access to my old works garage and all there tools so it was no big deal for me... honestly for the price ~$160 you can't complain...
