Hey Guys / Gals..
Basicaly the importance of this thread is to hit home the importance of tyre maintenence and driving within their limits !!!!
Lastnight at around 1.00am myself and J700OCK were traveling home from a Will Map in my Black Ek9.
The weather conditions were good when the incident accured and luckily no other cars or artic lorrys were involved !!!
Im not sure on the exact road but I think it may have been the M37. Around 70 miles south of glasgow.
We were sittin at a good cruising speed of 70 - 80 mph when a stunning ibiza cupra drove past on the outside lane - couldnt have been doing more than 80 - 85 mph then all of a sudden once it was about 100 yards infront of me it has a massive front right tyre blowout sending it head first into the concrete centre reservation, it hit the reservation so hard it bounced straight back across the motorway ( 3 lanes ) - Hit the hard shoulder reservation full on the rear sending it pinballing back into the middle of the motorway where it came to rest in an unreconisible state. No front wheels, no subframe, engine hanging out, no rear axle, the door was compltely off and the chasis was shaped like a C !!!!
I was traveling only 50 yards at most behind them when it happened, my car was showered with debris from the impact chipping my carbon bonnet, scratched all my wing and ripped my side repeater lense out !! - However could you imagine if he was overtaking a 50 ton articulated lorry at the time !!! (
The two guys in the car were severely shaken up however they never had any visible injurys ( so Lucky ) - I belive it was due to the cars air bags safety.
It really just hits home hard on sticking to goverment speed limits on roads and vehicle check-over before you set-off ! - Be prepared for the worst !!
It may also not be your own vehicle's fault, perfaps there was already some sharp debris on the road causing the blow out
Take care on the roads people !!
Cheers, Andy
