How well built is your interior?

Well, sad to say that mine does squeak and rattle a bit. Road conditions are terrible at certain places here, and I cant help but notice the squeaks/rattles.

Other than that, going over speed humps (which causes the chassis/body to flex a little) does cause the dashboard to squeak a little as well. :(

Do any of you experience this, or is your interior as tight as a drum?

When my car came from japan there was no weirds sounds or squeaks at the interior, now after 800 km, i can hear some :( my country streets SUCKS! they're in bad shape in a lot of parts, my car is not my daily drive i can't imagine what will happen if i use it for daily drive.

Wow that was a fast reply.

Yeah the roads in Japan look to be unbelievably well built. I havent seen a badly built one in any videos featuring Japan...

Hmm perhaps the road conditions and the years are taking a toll on my interior. :( The car is even sound proofed, and the interiors re-fitted as well as possible, plus some extra dampening. But that was 5 years ago.

I use my car for track and some times daily drive, i have a stiffer suspension installed, i dont have any interior, so my car is a concert of sounds inside lol :)

When my car came from japan it had 100,000 km, no sounds at all in the interior :)

My car is not bad considering its on coilovers,The only thing i am sick of is the exhaust lol 2.5 with sports cat:angry2: gonna get a standard ek9 exhaust !!

I bought my ek4 frm an elderly person with approx 50000km... the car was mint!!! no noises.

However i now hve these squeeks too....:angry2:

All other ek owners here were iam @ also hve this!!!

Seems that all EK owners experience this problem then.

Before I got my car I saw a two others. They both had squeaks and rattles as well. A few years ago my family had a Toyota Corolla, even after 11 years of service (before we sold it) the interior barely made a squeak. Oh well, atleast we get VTEC.

I borrowed a classic mini once, now that had a full orchestra even with all the interiors on. :D

Just search around the car and glue anything that moves lol :|

Opened up the left hand rear interior panel today to sort out the more annoying (and the only significant noise) of the interior.
Stuff inside vibrating? I wish!

Turns out its bodypanel's (the piece beneath the rear window) welding to the chassis frame weakening, thus causing the squeak. :(

Well with Honda's infamous light welding and all the years of cornering (being a TypeR), I guess this is to be expected. It in no way affects the handling or chassis rigidity (only a pro driver would feel such wear and tear on the track...), only minor squeaks whenever that part of the body is flexed but... this will be hard to fix. :(

The body welding found guilty is the part exposed when you remove the front part of the entire rear interior panel, beside the door lock latch attached to the body and behind the seat belt mountings. Basically the door sills there.

Im considering re-welding it, but am clueless as to what welding method should be used and if its advisable. Spot welding would probably cost quite a lot.

the best way to fix it mate is with co2, smooth it down, treat it with anti-rust, paint it & your good 2 go!! :nice:

c02 ? What does that do ?

Im now thinking of injecting some kind of hardening foam into the hollow pillars of the car instead. Ive heard only good things about this so far. :)

They say its like an invisible rollcage. Foam fills up the pillars and hardens, making the car much more solid, quiet and removes a LOT of body flex, making the panels almost impossible to squeak. :D

Well, If you say it SUCKS! then I'm forced to say........IT SUCKS!!!!! I'm using the car every single day to go college and every day I have to go through nasty roads with either stones or gravel. I feel more pain than the car itself :( Man, I live this nightmare every single day.... every signle day.... :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: Yesterday because of these ****ing big stones, the left side of my rear Buddy Club bumper got off when I was going in reverse. The plastic screw got off, and because it can only put by a special tool I could not put it back, so I put a normal iron screw and the vibrations because of iron to iron contact, in the interior are just more that annoying. Also the headlights lamps cannot last for more than a month because of my regular route. In addition to that my suspension is noisy.... I'm the most miserable EK9 owner on the planet rvm! :( You have to feel bit lucky :D

EK9 is not built for luxury its a pure race bred car!!

Mine seems comfy enough to drive with no issues :) just like my DC2 was

I argree that in not build only with luxury in mind, but I totally disagree with you if you claim that its not a luxurious car. Luxurious car for me is the one that provides excellent handling(suspension, power steering etc), great interior(seats which welcome you with a big hug :) etc), A/C, electric windows..... just like street EK9. Race Base EK9 is a different story and its not a luxurious car. McLaren F1 has not even the basics of luxury because it was made exclusively with performance in mind. The fact that EK9 has what I said it shows that performance was not the only thing they had in mind!
Perfhaps luxury for you is a wide, lengthly limo that has pure leather seats, TV on the dash board.....:D That is not luxury for me, that's something more

I call that bling. :D
You sound like youre driving to a construction site everyday. I'd really consider purchasing a cheap beater workhorse to make runs like that, while keeping my 'proper' car all done up and maintained nicely.

Luxury or race car, I consider mine as a street car and have street-type expectations for it to fulfill... and being well built is definately one of the things on top. :)

What gave so much reputation to EK9 is not the luxury though, but its incredible performance having always to say about what is that which gives so much boost to this car... 1.6 L N/A engine???
Just like I said once, EK9 makes small miracles!!!! :wow:
