TBH you will be lucky to make any bhp at all unfortunately.. stay away from any ''chips'' etc! Save your money!

you'l be better off keeping the car serviced well with a standard intake and manifold.. play around with a back box if you want a better noise .. thats all tho

Ditch the 1.4, spend your money on a 1.6 vtec, sohc or dohc if you can afford it!

Sorry to say it bud and I know insurance might be a problem but we are being honest. The bhp gains in a 1.4 will be so little they not worth talking about. You will be better to save your money and buy a 1.6 vtec..

Insurance is a big problem and all i can work with is a d14. So am better of just saving my money then and buying a ek4 next year with high milleage so get it cheap and do a engine rebuilt with skunk2 camshafts pulleys etc

That sounds like a much better idea! Just enjoy the 1.4 for this year, it will make the EK4 that much sweeter :nice:

Sounds like a good idea :nice: you may also want to do some research on other options on cams :D

I not to sure skunk 2 cams are all that good..I think they nearly make it slower.

so you think it would be more worth it to get a high millage ek4 in good condition body. and rebuilt the engine rather then get a low milleage ek4. As i have never done a engine rebuilt before and not sure if their will be things i wont be able to change. but yeah i will be saving up money from now i got a big project i want to do on a ek4

You say insurance is a problem. Are y'all required to tell what motor you got in the UK? As far as my insurance company is concerned my car is just another Honda Civic CX. They have no idea that there's a B16A2 instead of the D16Y7 in it. I'd actually have to insure it separately as a mod but I don't think I can since I have no receipt for it (came in the car). I can only insure what I have receipts for. I think the only thing I can really insure at this point is my Buddy Club Camber Kits and maybe my A'PEXi WSII muffler cause they are the only things I can find receipts for.

yeah but if you have a serious accident which is your fault. wouldn't the insurance check your car too see if you really are properly insured? with all the mods you told the insurance you got. i mean i would love to get a ek4 now and insure it as a 1.4 but obviously is not a engine conversion so it can't really be done

i dont think they look into the engine. but u cant insure an ek4 as a 1.4 cause they can just check the car detail with the reg plate

With them mods, you should gain a respectable 10BHP maybe....

Question is, do you really want to? Its still going to be a very mild powered 1.4 at the end of the day....

Why not save up for a 9?????

i would 100% proper a ek9 to a ek4 obviously but a 9 is not cheap well not for me. it all depends how work goes. I will definatly get a new civic next year weather is a ek4 or a ek9. it just all depends of how much money will i have by then. a engine rebuild on a ek9 with turbo would be a dream.
