Gym/Fitness thread

i've started doing a 15 minute 10km/h jog followed by the same duration on the cycling machine at a similar intensity. Have yet to try the corss trainer but going to try it out tomorrow. My lower back has been a weak point for years and i would like to build up strength in it after injuring it years ago, starting to do alot of core work with my mate which is helping but dont know of any weight related exercises for the back?

Check this link mate :nice:

For your back have you ever used a exercise ball? These are good for slot of things as kellsed said are you wanting to use weights? If so and you are on the heavy side (no offence mate matter of speech :nice: ) use a medium weight you are comfortable with cross trainer and row machine are both good options for muscle build and weight loss main thing though is eat the healthy stuff try cut out carbs and it more protein fish, new potatoes etc

yea, was using the exercise ball yesterday doing core work and sit-ups. Was working alot more than normal sit-ups, so i'll be keeping that up. I would say im heavy but to look at me you wouldnt think i'm 17 st! have a fair amount of muscle on my arms and legs etc.. just got a bit of a podge and the slightest set of moobs! lmao!

It's good stuff mate make sure you do the excersises proply though cos you can cause more injury if you arnt also do crunches for core strength i do crunches on the exersize ball an situps can also work your lower back hope all goes well mate :nice:

a few normal sit ups will be fine to start off, cardio is important as your heart and lungs are muscles just like arms etc and need built up for endurance and long duration(high intensity training) which is marathon running ud maybe be best getting a someone on here or a personal trainer to write you out a eating and training programme

yea need to organise my workout, going to try a few things out first and go from there. I already eat pretty health, just got to cut down on the snack food and my weakness for choc biscuits! lol

chocolate is a big no no lol your half way there if your diet is good i find it the hardest to keep good altho i do as alot of my mates and my gf eat crap so im like awwwwwwww should i then im like na im not im stronger than this hahaha

Chocolate isn't a big no no aslong as you don't over do it it's good for energy! You have to keep changing your diet and have to have junk food every so often as it's good for the body in lil doses

My mate owns a vitamin shop were I live and he gives me mega discounts if you want anything I can get it!! And any choc is ok in small doses :nice:

Going try that ABS work out in a bit i think, any one else tried it yet? lol
my main problem is when I'm doing crunches my neck and back start aching
Now i know thats because when my abs are getting tired then I'm using them to compensate or something but i just need a way to try and stop it from happening?

Your using your neck to pull your self up hense the aching place each hand on each ear and stare at one place in the ceiling using a excersize ball I the best you can do for your core if that makes sense because you are using your balance which is putting pressure on your abs so you only make lil movements and this does not effect your back or neck!!

I'm mainly into long distance running (13mile+++), but do love the occasional crossfit/ circuit session. I generally have a snicker bar coupled with a banana (on top of my normal 4-5 meals a day) with fluids a hour or so before I set off running.. Don't forget to eat after excercise too (in moderation). Eat smaller amounts, but more often I find works best for me :)

Agree with muscle building you should be eating every 2-3 hours!

what meals do you be having? brunch, elevenses? I have breakfast, lunch and dinner? not trying to be smart, just interested!

Just decide how many calories your having a day (or your normal amount if your good with your eating) but spread it over 4-5 meals instead :)
