Need to make my mind up with what i'm going to do with the car (not breaking the entire car before anyone asks) so thought i would post this up

Guess i'm trying to gauge interest in the following parts and if there is plenty interest at this time then i will find the space to dismantle the car and put these up for sale properly

If you are interested in anything then PM me, please do not post up trying to talk me out of this, it is my decision to make and as mentioned, the whole car is not being broken, just potentially the items below

Cheers
Steven

Quality parts mate i might have someone for a few parts. Are you gonna change the engine?

just to clarify, the engine has not gone bang, due to some poor honing work the bores of the engine are scored causing a loss of compression which has resulted in a fairly large power loss in vtec and i am not interested in rebuilding the bottom end

there will be no damage to any of the parts listed above

99% sure it will all be for sale.

I know a couple people that could be interested in a few bits depending on prices, as already said mate sorry to hear about this :) my favourite ek9 by far

I am absolutely gutted to have to do this, but it's the best option for me

but yes, as long as the above sells ok, a K20 will be going in

Sorry to hear your breaking the engine.
As a machinist though, its pretty hard to hone a bore oval unless the original bore or new bore was oval. Out of interest who did the bore/hone?

Pretty sure all your stuff will sell:nice:

Cant believe it, alot of hard work has gone into this.

Sh*t happens dude.

hone was too corse which has caused damage to the rings which has in turn scored the bores (rings were gapped and clocked correctly)

Henry has seen it happen plenty times before, from experience he knows just how fine honda bores have to be honed, especially on a b series engine, after putting an endoscope down the bores after a leak test it was pretty obvious

the grit used would be OK on a vauxhall / ford etc, but not a honda revving to 9600rpm

so more down to the machine shop not honing it to the finish that i requested

Awesome parts mate - hope you are talking to your machine shop about this!

was that the wiseco pistons? - what p2w clearance were you running?

Sorry to hear this my friend. Damn this is ****.

It sounds more like the piston to wall clearance was incorrect to me though.

Good luck with what ever you have planned anyway. :)

P2W was as per the wiseco specs, engine ran smooth as anything with no knocks or rattles which is bizarre

Anyways thanks for the interest, will get prices etc up tonight

Probably start stripping this weekend, determined to still make my 25th at the Ring in July

That maybe the problem though mate. You can't always strictly follow there recommended clearances as most of the time the application of the engine is not considered. My money is on the P2W clearance anyway.

I also recommend you really think about this before you go any further. You've put a **** load of money and effort into this and just let it go like this is crazy in my eyes. Like, come on man !! do you really give up this easy ?? from the impression i get NO :p this **** happens... be strong minded and beat it !

My advise is to remove the head and see how deep the scoring is. If its only light all you will need is a new set of the same sized pistons and a slight rebore/hone (considering you need more clearance anyway this won't matter). If its deep then you will need to purchase a new set of pistons and replacement liners/sleeves (darton do them) and have them installed. Its not a massive deal for you either way...

Feel free to PM me about it if you want :)
