Ferodo DS2500 or mintex 1144

I disagree with this, there epic on track, on the road there OK, but on track when there up to temperature there fantastic, never experienced fade with these

Agreed, using them on a stage they are superb, and im still using the 262 ek4 brakes at the moment, even work with cheese on the disc after my navigator toasted a cheese sandwich on them...., strange man.

I've used them in larger, more powerful cars and they are not up to the job for serious track work, but maybe in EK's they can cope with the lesser weight and pace.

I'm comparing them to serious track pads like PF01's and EBC Bluestuff. This is first hand experience with 8pot 356mm fronts and 6 pot 330mm rears on a 1340kg car.

I guess this is a little off topic now as the thread is not about track pads. DS's are fine for most applications.

:)

Thanks for all the feedback but let's face it, I'm not going to know what they're like till I try them for myself :) which is this weekend when there fitted so let's hope they do good

If they arnt up to it on track go to ds3000, wouldnt even use ebc on the lawn mower.

im running the ds2500 atm but id go for a good disc im running oem honda atr discs and was out on track yday and looks like ive cooked them lol

I had done the same to my OEM discs with those pads out on track, but it turns out it was just the deposits left behind. After a few hundred miles my discs were OK again.

I regularly use the DS2500 on track and find them worth every single penny. With a decent set of discs and some braided hoses they won't fade and you'll see a good improvement on stopping power.

Has anyone used Carbone Lorraine pads?

I think i'll get a set after i eat my dixcel pads.

Freakyparts on here sells them.

Personally no problems with the ds2500s, last track they didnt fade but got rather got and smokey lol

You've had your answer now so I'm going to jump in and ask should my set up of Brembo Max and redstuff pads be overheating after a no more than 5 bits of heavy braking or do i need better brake fluid?

hi mate it just depends on how fast you was traveling while heavy braking, it wouldnt hurt to upgrade to a dot5.1 or even a motul fluid.

Hmmm I just had my OEM discs delivered today so that's that lol. I'm hoping they live up to the task but if not then maybe I'll have to look elsewhere, I just don't appreciate the price hike from OEM to grooved or any other upgraded disc. They're not going to get abused too much I shouldn't think so the set up I'm about to fit this weekend should surfice... I hope :)

This will be my set up:

OEM discs all round
Front DS2500 pads
Rear yellow stuff pads
HEL braided lines all round
Motul RBF

I'm hoping for good things!

Why not go for matching DS2500 on the rear? Using the same pad compound should be more predictable than using mixed and matched pads as you don't risk them warming up or fading at different temperatures.

So,

I've had the pads fitted now for around 300 miles a long with Braided lines all round and Motul RBF fluid and the results are good i'm happy to say :)

Not had any brake fade what so ever...could probably benefit from grooved discs maybe for track use but for road use it's a good set-up. Initial cold bite is also very good!

i paid near 100 for a set of front ds2500 for 282 brakes here in my country. how much you are paying for these pads? maybe you can share the links? thanks

want good brake pads just get carbone loraine !! best pads that money can buy they have the stopping power with 0.56 friction ratio the ds2500 only have 0.46 or somthing

Here is my experience.

I have used 3 sets of pads on my EK4(B18Cr, 262mm).

The first set was Galfer tuning pads. They didn't last long and was fading very often.

Second set was DS2500. These was really good pads. But they began to fade under heavy driving.

The third set is Carbotech XP12. These are REALLY amazing pads. They are a lot more better than DS2500 cold and they have never began to fade. And the bite is just really amazing. I would not buy any other pads then carbotech anymore ;) Only problem is brakedust.
There are a couple of other people in Norway that stick with the carbotech.
