Well my 9 failed MOT today. Its passed the last 3 years with no issues. But today it failed over Speedometer - not dual marked.

Has anybody else had the same issue?

Sounds like you've had a picky MOT tester. I'm asked my MOT tester about the speedo and mileage being in KM and he said it doesn't matter.

what a load of nonsence never had that problem.

dual mark the testers face then he mite pass it for you

It is a regulation for mot now, some testers will ignore it and some wont

You will need to put uk vti cluster in, it will work fine

There are a serious numbers of new regulations brought in as of the 1st may 2012 making it hard work to get an mot in northern ireland in comparison to the rest of the uk

This is a load of crap, I had to get a steering wheel out of an EJ9 because they insisted that the car came with an airbag as standard! The same goes for ABS and cat - even if your car passes emissions with the decat on they will still fail it - cause it had a cat fitted as standard! At least they never mentioned the speedo...

random thought mayb not make them happy as they do sound fussy but what about a sat nav which tells you your speed in mph ?

we will always be removing parts for M.O.T and then fitting parts after it passes.

thats the the aftermarket tuner game...

yeh too true, thats why friendly testers are good i used to get mine passed with a decat on aslongs i left my cat in the boot for the mot then guy would just emmison test a Volvo or something

my car also failed its MOT because the speedo wasnt dual marked, even though it passed the year before. Had to buy a sticker kit off ebay and it sailed straight through

I've been told by a mate who is an MOT tester and he states that the speedo is not checked as part of the MOT!!

You may find this useful - I found it on the internet by chance and if you scroll down a bit there is something on there with regards to the speedo.

Lad, thats all well and good where you live. But getting an MOT in Northern Ireland is proving more and more difficult every year now!! I wouldn't be surprised if some people started getting the boat to Scotland to get their car tested in years to come!

Yes over here in Northern Ireland its a different story even thou we are part of the UK.

We do not have the choice of just dropping into a backstreet garage or likes to get tested,we get large government sites with overengineered tests to rip your car apart!

The dual reading speedo has always been a check over here but just depends what tester you get on the day.

Just buy a set of ej9 clocks for £10-20 and throw them in before MOT. That's my plan, keeping my car in KM's!
