Engine won't start?

Did you try a new set of spark plugs? Or atleast clean off your old plugs, they may be badly fouled.

The plugs are reasonably new and I cleaned them up?

I do run an aftermarket alarm but how would I deactivate the mobiliser?

So had another quick go this morning...

Fuel pump primes - theres a spark (i checked by earthing a plug to the chassis)

I cleaned all the plugs

Cranked it over - it spluttered then died again

Checked the plugs - they are all wet with fuel

Im puzzled?!

It's strange that your plugs were dry before and are now wet when trying to fire the car? You'll certainly be flooding the engine if the plugs are wet, clean them up, burn off any excess fuel on them (with a lighter or similar) and give them a rub.

I'd also speak to the person who did your map. I had a similar problem on my Jordan, turns out it was the settings for the injectors (were set for the standard injectors not the 750cc RC I have now). I'm not sure on your spec etc so cant comment too much, i'm running a Hondata S300 though.

Hope you get it sorted mate :nice:

So...

Tried another known working distributor (one of my old engine)

Cleaned plugs and burnt excess fuel off with lighter bla bla

Plugged everything back in - leads etc

On the first turn of the key it started and then just died straight away

Any attempts to start after that just result in the engine cranking over.

What the **** is wrong with my car?

I checked all the fuses too....@@@

You sure it isn't the imobilser?
If not you got compression, fuel and a spark?

How would I identify it as the immobiliser and how do I bybass it?

I have compression, fuel & spark - it was running absolutely fine the day before lol so not even 24hrs

See if it starts up on a totally stock ECU (OEM B16B will do fine). That way you can rule the ECU out.

Rich I don't have a B16B OEM ECU to hand but i do have a EK4 OEM ECU?

What do you think?

Right so I removed the harness and plugged in my EK4 ECU and it just cranks over :(

Silly question how much fuel is in the car? Is it low?

Hehe it was on the fuel light almost but the first thing I did was put a gallon of V power in it so I can rule that one out - my cars on a pretty level drive.

:(

Fair enough mate. Just I have had this a couple of time when the light has been just about on if parked on a slope.

No other ideas I'm afraid.

Rule out the ECU then. Have you disturbed any wiring going to the fuel pump ? Have you got a fuel pressure gauge to verify ?
