Iv been up against a std VXR in my EG6 (as std B16A with exhaust/manifold) and the difference in straight line speed was very minimal if none at all!

In all fairness it would only take a few bolt on's to the VXR to push the power right up. An would need engine swaps with tuning to start pushing the power up on most honda's. I actualy liked the Astra VXR for a while, well that is until i drove one, so i will always be a hater. As to me more power in an Astra just = even less control

Surely not about the reliability ! Only heard really bad things bout them in that sense.

I havent really heard to much about the runnings and reliabily of them, from what you say im a lil dissapointed but then im not really surprised lol
 
Mostly wheel bearings, gearbox and clutch related problems i've heard about - on cars with not many miles on them.

Oh and full engine replacements.

Just a good job most have been warranty repairs i've heard about and not £££ out of someones pocket.

Haha barry i still love honda's. I actually raced an astra vxr last week, im assuming it was standard as I sat with it no bother.

The thing that bothers me about posts like this is when people go "oh but what if he ek9 was turboed and had 4000000bhp' its just a pointless statement. the same as 'oh what if it was through the twisties'

its just how people how always make excuses. also nobody races 0-60 ahahaha. welcome to da real world.

I know mate i was only havin a laugh !! I agree with you but i just hate Vauxhalls.

When anyone races there should never be "but if i had a turbo" or "if it was on twisties" cos at the end of the day if you lost, you lost - end of.

But theres no harm trying and to be honest its not about what car you own either its about how much money you have.

Exactly, most performance cars are in around the same 0-60 times its from there upwards where the extra power will show.
 
Lol @ twisties if I had a penny everytime I've heard that. Either way I still wouldn't want the vauxhall never been a fan of them tbh.
 
for a 300bhp astra that was not very imressive, my bro has 300bhp ep91 (weighs less) & he would have been out of sight in no time

The guy who posted this up probably wasnt even trying to beat that VXR just a comparison to show how quick the VXR is.

As soon as anyone puts up a video on here it becomes a bashing fest about how hondas aint the fastest in the world. Which is entirely true but it gets old.

I like Honda's as i love the VTEC engines and how they rev and how the power feels not because of how fast they are.

EK9 is the best Civic ever made (and probably always will be). I'll be getting one and putting a B18 in - not to claim its the fastest thing in the world but because how awesome the car will be, and whats wrong with trying your luck sometimes and enjoying your car??

well said m8..also a point dont forget the newest ek9 must be at least 11 years old.. vxr is build with the latest tecnology and also turboed... hondas are fast i personally own a tuned ek9. i beated a lot of cars but that doesnt mean that we will always win...

did wel considering really and iv raced an audi r8 before not presuming i would stay with it just to see how much quicker and the awsome sound of it, after he came up to me and was like whats in that a 2.2? i replied nope 1.6 he was amazed, difference is you expect a car of these power outputs to eat you alive only a honda owner knows what they are capable of and thats why we all own one, they suprise everyone never heard anyone be disapointed with how an ek9 goes people already posted on here vxr not as good as i thought, proves honda engineering was for enjoyment not out and out power as there will always be something faster on the road but more fun than an ek9?????? i think you will all agree not much comes close......... my piece said =) both lovely looking cars though (my opinion)
