ive been offered a str throttle body for my ek9.is it a good brand i think its probly not.will i gain power from it. the car is otherwise standard.wud i hafta change other parts to mak it worthwhile any advice appreciated!

Stay away... Unless you have other mods ie cams, higher compression etc etc. Then consider integra units bored to spoon spec seem to make small gains. Better spent else where imo

I expect more will help out on the details of whats what.

What size tb is it? A different tb may give you a slight improvement on throttle response. However if you go too large it may not be beneficial on a standard car. Ideally you should match your inlet manifold to your tb if it is say 68mm for example.
You can also block off the manifold heater pipes so as to keep the inlet air tem down.

As Ian says on a standardish car either a Teg 62mm tb or the 'Venturi' (Spoon) spec is best (70mm down to 62mm.)

bore your oem one if you want a bigger one :)

i should measure wit vernier calipers then yeah.thing is i wudnt av a whole lot o money so itd be long time before id be able to hav lots of other mods to support it.my mate stuck iton his ek4 he thou it made diff but sed it drank fuel wit it on!!i jus wanna know is it gonna jus be lettin in load of air an wud de fuelling be wrong an as ive only standard inlet an exh manifolds wud it not flow properly an jus run lik a pig?thanks lads

unless its under $100usd its pointless, you can buy an AEBS 62 65 or 68 TB anytime for about $160 use brand new!

I am using bored CTR TB inlet 66mm outlet 64mm..it think its the max bore for CTR TB. Noticable throttle response.

Just wondering, does it require us to bore the intake manifold as well to match the bore that has been done at the outlet (butterfly) ?

your IM should be port matched to the exit side of your TB.
