hi everyone, just wondering does ek9 suspension fit into 1996 ek4 SIR hatchback? i want to buy a set of ek9suspension off my friend. thanks

A little kick for another question...how does the EK9 stock suspension compare to the EK4 suspension in terms of comfort and stifness? And to an FD2?

FD2 is not comfortable in standard form.....

very heavily damped so stiff ride, although the handling more than makes up for this, LOVE driving my dads FD2 :D

I know the FD2 is pretty stiff, a bit like my own suspension. And since I know what an FD2 feels like, I'd like to know how the EK9 suspension compares to it in terms of ride comfort and cornering speed :)

make sure you get like an ASR reinforcement bar and an OEM EK9 rear sway bar to go with it (22mm I think). :)

Otherwise it will tear through your subframe! :nono:

This doesnt HAVE to be done. By all means get the brace and arb if you further want to improve handling but its not a must.

When i did my ek4 to ek9 suspension, the car sat about 35mm lower and was a little harsher ride. No huge performance gains but it looked better and reduced body roll slightly.

Thats what happened to me.. my subframe was teared. I just welded it and put the EK9 sway bar back with the ASR subframe. Drove it for 2 days, don't see the creck yet but i'm so afraid to go hard into the corner..

The OEM EK9 suspension is really comfortable, i believe it is even softer than the Tein SS. I put that on when my wife is pregnant. :)

you probably did not have too much gains in perforamnce since you were using factory sway bars...

hihi...just a quick one...so wats the length of the gap between ur tyre and fender after putting in the ek9 suspension?

Thanks.

So i should have really changed the ARBs instead of the shocks if im looking for performance improvement? Are the standard ek9 bars the best option. I was looking at whitelines but dont want to start messing with my oversteer/understeer settings.

Cyrix12: gap is about 35mm between arch and tyre - with standard wheels and tyres. Nothing drastic but stock ek4s look like their on stilts.

ek9 suspension v ek4

ek9 is considerably harsher than ek4,very noticeaable in both ride comfort and handling improvment

drop is about 15mm more with 9 setup

just dampers alone don't tell the whole story. Look at what overall changes Honda made to the car and in order to take advantage of the EK9 dampers, you should do the ARBs and TIRE plus wheel alignment settings...on top of that, reduce some of the weight of the car as well.

Suspension, just like engine modifications...work best when modified as a whole.
