EK9 Racecar

So! After a stressful 4 evenings of fault finding and preparation, she's alive!!!!!
Massive thanks again to my friend @jesse888 for all of his help and advice. Had some trouble with some wiring and fuel pressure regulator and a silly error!
But all was ok in end, uploaded Jesse's basemap that he did for me and it fired up and ran lovely.

Got her up to temperature and dropped the oil out and new filter will be put on.

Oil was a pretty good that came out, a tad grey but the engine assembly lube I used was a graphite colour so I expect it's just that.

No nasty surprises on the magnetic sump bung.
No major leaks either....
No nasty noises so far!

Got a little list of things to do before next start up, oil temp not working for some reason, and my new water temp gauge not working.
Install new oil pressure gauge, and id like to put some thicker oil in.
Used 10w40 for first start.

Few other little niggles but for first start I think things went well.

That's awesome news mate, relatively easy enough going then with just some silly issues, glad to hear it!

Yeh good news so far!
Yeh just a few little niggles and she fired up.
Got my wife to slap me in the face for one of my mistakes but harmless mistake!

Haha brilliant , love these builds would love to have the confidence to do something myself in future

Excellent news. Sounds great in the video!
Now its just putting mileage on it!

Tiny deposit on the magnet, got to expect a tiny bit.

Got a nicer sump bung I'm going to use next time, this one came with the Moroso, the nylon washer was pants lol.

Yeh man! Got a few things to sort and some thicker oil then I'll take her for a drive. The 10w40 was thin as...

Oh and the clutch works perfectly, I was worried that it was wrong because of the clearance issues I had.

My plug was quite swarfy for ages so dont worry too much

Looking really good and sounds quality too ,
Brilliant update mate !
Now the real fun starts :drive:

Thanks guys!
Got a fair bit done today, no pictures I'm afraid.
Got my mechanical oil pressure gauge plumbed in, really happy with it as it's far more precise with the oil pressure reading.
Rad temp gauge and oil temp gauge still not working, I checked the wiring while I was doing the oil pressure gauge and it all seemed ok, will have to look into that.
Took the rocker cover off just to have a look, all of the assembly lube is gone and valve clearances seem ok.
New oil filter and 10w 50 oil put in for the next 500miles.
Then will drop that out and put in some decent 10w50 millers.

Got her up to temperature again and all seemed well, fan is cutting in, but going to put an overide in just incase I see temps creeping up.

Got her out the garage but then it started pissing with rain! So maiden voyage was cancelled.

Also put my front wheel arch liners back in, cut the front parts off though as boost pipes in the way and lack of bumper to attach them too!

Your gauge issue is an earth im willing tk bet.
Ive had to run an earth from the gauge to an earth point near the sensor then also an earth from the sensor to that same point again.
Remember at the ring when my wayer temp started reading 40c? That was because the 2nd earth fell off.

Yeh that's a good shout, I'll sort some new earths out.
My only photo from today.
At idle the AFR reads around 14.9 to 15.14 ATM

Thats ok.
I take it thats fully warmed up against the 13.8 you where getting in the last video?
Also dont be alarmed if the idle afr is quite lean immediately after a hot restart, ive been told its the fuel vaporising in the hot inlet manifold.

Yeh that's pretty much warmed up, will get some logs for you to have a look at :nice:

Yeah thats fine.
Minor tweak come map day is all, litrally 1% more fuel on idle needed
