EK9 Poor Starting


Check your plugs and have a mechanic check your dizzy is set to 16degrees btdc
 
See when it does run - does it run ok or is it runnin like a burst baw?

Any signs of misfiring? or stuttering
 
Just read through the thread and was wondering if you have a aftermarket ecu? Could be a cold start fueling problem like I was having with my motor as the situations sound very similar.

I changed my rotor arm and spark plugs, with no effect. It would turn over quite well but would never come to life, (it would bump start though).

Took it to the tuner and it ended up being a cold start fueling issue with the map (It had been mapped in the middle of summer so no cold mornings were around).

Have you checked your air filter?
 
check your grounding cabel....between tranny to chasis..just change or clear out the rust...

Well i had the same problem yesterday but she did start eventually. Once started she runs sweet

No aftermarket parts on the car (yet) 100% standard car. Not checked the air filter although i have just recieved my whales pen*s intake this morning :clap:

Got a mate coming round tonight to tow it down to his garage so hopefully he finds something as i cant really do without my car for long as i rneed it for work :((
 
i had this problem yesterday..the starter motor was stuck...jus hit it few taps of a hammer using a pole while my brother tried to start it an it worked..running fine now :)
 
Well dont ask me how, but the car ran yesterday

Had various bits off the car. Dizzy, plugs, leads. Put everything back together and she started :win:

Today i went out to the car to go to the shops..... and she wouldnt start


I seem to be getting three fault codes coming up with the CEL flashes. Two i can identify but the third doesnt seem to be on Duncans list????

I read them as

16 - Fuel injector system defective circuit or unplugged/defective fuel injector
18 - ??????????
61 - Oxygen sensor, heated - sensor 1 (primary) high voltage, low voltage, or slow respose

I have uploaded a video of the CEL flashes in the hope someone can help me with the mysterious 18 incase im reading it wrong

Just fitted a new rotor arm to the car and all seems well

Cant explain how she ran yesterday though with the duff rotor arm :confused:

Hopefully i can enjoy the car now :win:

Still cant clear the codes though. Tried disconnecting the battery and pulling the fuse under the bonnet

Yeah over the moon!!!!

Any ideas about the CEL flashes? Cant reset them
