Well its been a while since I've been on here, don't get much time lately. I thought I'd share a picture of one of my 4th Gears....

The gearbox has covered aprox 88,000 miles now and 40,500 of that as a high powered TURBOCHARGED EK9. so its not done bad, especially considering the abuse it gets. :)) These gearboxes are renowned for their durability in drag racing up-to certain hp levels, B road abuse has taken its toll.

I need to tear down the LSD too though as I fear its chewed its gears up too.

hmm

Torn it off.... most likely from jumping it over brows at high speed, when you hit down on the tarmac again there's always a massive amount of load going through the drivetrain!

A few hundred pounds to the honda dealer and it'll be back in action! :naughty:

Lookout for this in a big race series this year as the car is being stripped and prepped for racing. It's wasted on the road! :win:

Looks well chewed Will! What series are you looking at?

But for 40,000 miles is not that bad :damn2:

Whoah ! :) What you going to use again ? stock for as long as it goes ?
Your gearbox needs some mFactory help ! LOL

Well chewed that!! I think Mfactory shoult be on your shopping list

NSSCC initially and possibly something else if the rules change lol

OEM for now bud, would like a sequential 6 speed but its out of the planned budged for now and is borderline on the torque capability.
OEM is alot stronger than all the 5 speed dog sets on the market. Mainly because it has a larger tooth profile, also because of case-flex and the shafts trying to muscle apart. You can make them a 4 speed like LB/Elite/Quaife etc etc and put a handcuff where 5th was then problem solved but to keep 160+mph top speed with a 4 speed set leaves you with very tall gears, too tall for circuit racing.

mFactory told me their gear sets/FD set wouldn't take the power reliably IIRC. I've still got the pm on here im sure.

ouch! love the underside shot though! lol

 ....it doesnt look as nice when its apart like this ! lol

OUCH....Atleast its lasted some time :nice:

Aii..... another week and I should have the parts to rebuild the box.

as said, M factory isnt any stronger than OEM and OEM is made to such a high standard and proven to high power.

One of my biggest concerns is temperature. On the datalogs I see gearbox temperatures exceeding 150*C during extended abuse!! ....this is going to be addressed with a cooler and electronic pump controlled by the ecu against box temp on a square wave with a mosfet. :secret:

....Its amazing how many ancillaries you can intelligently control with one top quality GEMS ecu... saving the need for a dozen plus cheaper, heavier electronic controllers!

406whp DIN @14.5psi boost Dynapack. sub 300lbft torque and a heavy right foot!
The most load the car sees in 4th is whenever it gets airborn then hits down, you always get a boost spike in these situations when the traction control is turned off.

i have a 3rd and 4th gear from a 98 spec ITR box lying around if its any good to you,

MFactory parts are far stronger and more durable than the OEM offerings. Our normal road/race gears would probably not handle the power (although it depends on driving style. You did manage to get 40k out of the oem parts), but our PRO Final Drives and Gear Sets would handle it no problem; these were designed for 1000whp.

Ha! Good work mate.

I'm moving 40 mile from you in aug for 2 years, will have to pop down and see this beast in action
