>>ek9 daily road/track build up from the start<<

Carried out a bit of work on the EK9 last week.

I always wanted at least an Oil temp gauge so that I knew exactly when the oil was warmed up to around 80 degrees to use vtec without causing any damage and also to make sure the temps are not going too high on the track.

Fitted a BWR oil filter adapter plate and a GlowShift digital gauge as I did not want to spend a fortune on one.

To make things easier to get at, I removed the intake manifold

Then while I knew it was coming of I ordered a Hondata thermal barrier gasket. So I set about the painfull task of scraping all of the old gasket off the head:angry:

All clean, ports and valves/guides appear to be in good condition atm with no signs of oil

Hondata gasket in place

Next was to install the filter adapter with sensor and run the wires through the bulk head.

Before re-installing the intake manifold I had it completely degreased and it should stay that way with the PCV system re-routed into the catch can

TB & IACVcleaned and installed

Everything built back up, just bleeding the new coolant through and checking for any leaks. Takes ages for fans to kick in with new Rad

Took the easy option for now of a simple pillar mount. All wired up and working well

Hoping to get the car out for the last trackday of the season next month :nice:

Also after replacing my Spoon N1 with a new OEM box for a while I decided that I wanted a bit of a note again without being loud so I bought an N1 style backbox from the group buy on here. Sounds perfect for now

The noise isnt bad at all with this one and has a nice tone. No boomy sound constantly like the n1

how much did the cage set ya back if you dont mind me asking? :nice:

Cheers, think the cage was around £350-£400 and thats just the rear half. Contact gorally school online for prices.

Would highly recommend them and would buy the cage again, quality, fit and weight was perfect

Decided to give the engine bay area a bit of a clean and tidy.

A short time later the car looked like this

I ended up tucking the headlight loom under the passenger wing and the small fusebox inside the cabin.

Then since the wings, bumper were off I cleaned everything down and put a coat of red oxide on to protect everything from corossion. I was glad to find basically zero rust anywhere under the wings

Here are a few pics of how it looked after cleaning and a very minor tuck

Cheers

Yes mate just moved the fuses behind the dash. To be honest it tidys up the bay a bit but I dont think it was worth the hassle since it was a pain to do.

The front end looks really great after that little clean, what type of red oxide did you use and where did you get it as I'm in the process of rubbing down the old underseal in my ek9 and plan to use some in the near future. Koyo radiator really adds to the look of the bay also man. Keep it up!!
