I wanted to start a build thread so I deleted my members rides thread and this is what I have done with my ek9 from standard just over a year ago until now:
How the car looked at the start, mint with jap service history and fresh import and it was completely standard
One of the 1st modifications I did was to swap the oem 4.4 final drive for a brand new oem 98spec dc2 4.78 and put a new oem honda dc2 clutch kit in at the same time, the type-r clutches have plenty of bite, great for daily driving and they are a lot more reliable than some aftermarket makes
Old 4.4 still like new
I then put a dc 4-1 on the car at took it to a Dyno day, car made 186bhp at the flywheel so a healthy engine
I wanted better cooling so I swapped my oem half length radiator for a dc2 full length, also fitted a dc2 throttle body, spoon n1 axleback, new rear trailing arm bushes. I also fitted a new Honda timeing belt kit and adjusted the valve clearances within spec
Fitted Tegiwa mugen style intake, made a noticeable difference, 4bhp and 4ft lbs on the dyno
At a local Jap car show
The next few mods I did, ferodo ds2500 pads, motul rbf600 brake fluid, full spoon 4-2-1 mani, spoon sump heat barrier, password jdm rear strut brace, beaks tie bar
A few pics of how the car looks now, with winglets, front fogs painted white with yellow lenses and carbon parts
Got the car mapped recently on a P28 ecu with chrome, made 204bhp 131ft lbs and 25bhp at the wheels midrange at 6k. The car is so much better to drive, the extra torque is great for everyday and the peak power is nearly from 7.5k to 9k looking at the graph
All comments welcome, cheers
