yo neil, no i'm not a freeman and my car is registered, i know that may seem hipocritical to some but i believe it takes a lot more research to be a freeman of the land, and also its not something that massively appeals to me.. i know that may sound weird but maybe one day when i'm in my late 50's or someting and have a family and a skill ( carpenter/joiner/mechanic/ something i can work for myself ) i'll sort something out.. a nice amount of land and build a house and feed myself and all that jazz as i think thats pretty cool... not being all hippie but just living for yourself with no help.. but for now there are far to many luxuries to be enjoyed and i'm only 23 lol.
i sound like i'm contradicting myself but sure you understand that an interesting subject that you feel passionate about is not always something you have to see through.... for intance i used to be very interested in war/weapon's/planes/tanks etc etc. lol but i couldn't hurt a fly and could never go to war myself.. unless it was because we were being invaded, but thats different to going to war...... i hope that makes sense
i'm far to easy going
to your question though:
a very good and very intelligent mate of mine bought a car and didn't register it or tax it or anything like that and sorted out the paperwork got his own plates and that and never got any hassle for months and months until one day he parked it in a private car park of a pub and they clamped all 4 wheels, to which we were anoyyed and could have done something about but TBH we were young ( 20 ) and were not really up for a big battle with legall types and the car was worth hardly anything.... lol so we had fun and stripped it and basically destroyed the engine as best as we could , lol i think i have a video of me somewhere pretending to do a tutorial of how to change you radiator fluid... i look at the camera and then the radiator and then stab it multiple times with a screw driver while my mate laughs his head off.. we also locked the front wheels up by putting it in gear then breaking all the parts and ripping out the linkage's to make it hard for them to move
.... the police sat in a busy car all the next day watching the car after that.. so that night we put a sign on each window saying " free to a good home this car is unlocked and if any homeless guys need a home for the night, make yourself at home " " any parts you need for your car please take, as this car is now not owned by anybody and is property of nobody "
also the same chap took out a loan with a very random internet credit card company and took £1500 and then wrote of the debt by sending them a contract stating that he did not owe them anything as they paid him in credit which is fictious. they didn't give him money they simply added 1500 digits to his account.. ( please don't ask me about this as its very complex lol i don't understand it fully and have not fully looked into contracts and that side of things ) but basically to this day he has not heard from them / the police / courts / balliffs or anyone and no-one can now act on it legally as they didn't reply to his contract's and notice's which in common law is known as
" estoppel by acquiescence " which the wikipedia definition is
" The common law doctrine of estoppel by acquiescence is applied when one party gives legal notice to a second party of a fact or claim, and the second party fails to challenge or refute that claim within a reasonable time. The second party is said to have acquiesced to the claim, and is estopped from later challenging it, or making a counterclaim "
which is basically what the council do if you don't reply to their car park tickets they simply buff it up. beacuse to not reply is to go into dishounour.. which is unlawful..
sorry to get carried away and type an essay again lol. may seem a bit sureal the part about getting the credit written off but he really did it and obvisouly i have no reason to lie about it as well it wasn't even me that did it lol but thought you'd like to hear it anyway, i know if i heard it it'd be questioning it but honest to god he did it. still to this day i don't fully understand how, but then its probably beyond my intelligence
but yeah basically i've had some fun with it and its good to know things workin real life .. but to delclare myself a freeman i don't think i'm at a stage in my life where this is practical at the moment.. i'm skint, love my car, love my drums/band so it'd be too much.. but i know it is possible if i wanted to and understanding law can't be a bad thing to know..
