Dump Tube - Pros and Cons??

Waste gate and screamer pipe ( dump tube ) what every you call it is on the exhaust side

Dump valve , BPVs , blow off valves are on the air side of things ;)

thanks wishy, didnt know that (on dump tube sound of things) know how a dump valve works etc. but never heard of a dump tube, learn something new everyday!
wounder what the sound is like compared to a dump valve

No worries mate , there more commomly know as a screamer pipe up our way Lol . Doesnt sound anything like a DV . If the cars fitter with a screamer pipe its loud . Its exhaust gases escaping through a straight peice of pipe no muffling or that .
But does make a nice flutter when you come off the gas aswell as the the DV going Lol :nice:

Oh Right!! LOL i have one of them fitted Doh!

i dont like it... very raspy which gets worse with more revs, unlike the k20 type R, that sounded just like well a normal race/track car should sound, no raspiness at all. Perfect.

haha, I get to use my 2nd post to call you an idiot.

WINNER!

LOL drumz! haha! :welcome:

But yea depending on the length of pipe and exhaust housing size etc they sound different but sound great imo. The only other way is to plump it back into the downpipe or use an internal wastegate but they are poo tbh, an EWG holds boost A LOT better than internal.

I know them as screamer pipes also.

Lol sorry bud you aint got one . My bad never explained rite the screamer pipe is the out let of the waste gate . The staight pipe i was talking about was attached to the waste gate and is vent to atomsphere hence the screamer expression that comes with it . Most cars just feed back in to the exhaust system .

But that what this thread was about the pros and cons of having one ;)

The yellow circle is the waste gate and so called screamer pipe but mines is not a screamer because it gos back into the downpipe

The green circle is the dump valve

Sorry for Hi Jackin bud

You took the words literally out of my mouth bud.
What a dick:angry:

To the OP - Dumps don't sound loud unless the gate is opening (at full pressure of the spring), otherwise, you don't hear them.
So they are farely quiet when cruising along, however as expected, they can be seriously loud when driving hard.

Thanks for the info peeps.
Man who could guess that a name could cause so much controversy. Glad we're all on the same page now though. I'm used to calling them dump tubes in my neck of the woods, but have heard other call them screamer pipes before.

Think I'm best of going out in a civic turbo with one fitted to see what they truly sound like.

Have any of you got any vids of your cars with a dump tu...sorry I meant screamer pipe fitted lol
