yO guys.

I was just wondering what the benefits were of having an atmospheric dump tube opposed to having a closed loop dump tube which feeds back into the down pipe?

Also for those that have atmospheric dump tubes, are they barable on a street driven car, or do they attract unwanted attention?

Thanks

The noise for 1 is addictice :D I had 1 on my starlet and loved it! It only opens at WOT so as long as you dont go booting it everywhere you can put up with it easily. Very loud tho so you could attract un-wanted attention but I never did.

Oh right cool. So it can be pretty civil when cruising about then?

I'm not too keen on the sound of the ones Ive heard so far. But I'm guessing you will get different sounds depening on what turbo setup you have?

There loud , i aint got one one mine but would do if i change my manifold . Basically the wastegate opens when the is more gas that can go through the turbo , working on a pressure rated diaphram . So it dumps when the pressure is reached , dumping back in to the exhaust system will disturb the gas flow .

So...
Probs.... IMO would be better for the exhaust smoother and more laminer flow .

Cons..... They are known to shot the odd flame so you need to be careful where you place it on the car . And that they can be loud but awesome ;)

Pros : does the same job as a dump valve

Cons : you sound like a cock calling it a dump 'tube'

OMG....theres always one dumb ass amongs the crew:rolleyes:

dump tube...dump pipe...screamer pipe...all the same thing man.
Hence why the FI guys who have posted a response to my question know exactly what I'm talking about;)

lol...here we go.
Firstly stop posting BS on my thread if you don't have any valuable input.

Do some research, and I'm sure you'll find out that many FI guys refer to it as a dumb tube/pipe.....so don't really see where you coming from or what your problem is?

And if you wonna be a keyboard warrior, head over to civic life....I'm sure they'll welcome you with opening arms over there.

Dunno what forums your used to going on, but we don't talk to each other like that on here son.

"You sound like a cock calling it a dump tube???".....this kid can't be for real:lol:

Anyway....back on topic

Quit crying, iv been on this forum for years and posted lots of good ****, but i was bored last night, get over it.

I cant go on civiclife because I am banned for calling the moderators girlfriend a whore.

ps. dump tube is still the worst car lingo iv ever heard. sounds like a weird *** toy

haha, I get to use my 2nd post to call you an idiot.

WINNER!

FWIW the obvious has already been stated. But I haven't see anyone post about reducing the chance of boost creep. That's a pretty big issue when running High boost apps and ends in a nice colaboration of sounds you never knew a motor could make. Cheap insurance IMO to keep from boost creep and spikes.

PM'd

Dump tube = wastegate screamer pipe just to clear things up a bit.

More specifically a Atm. Dump Tube = Screamer Pipe. Can't be a Screamer Pipe if it routes back into the Exhaust stream.

Thats a fair point about boost creep , didnt even think about that last night Lol

O man lol.... thats what we normally call it around here anyway. I guess its all down to what ever your use to hearing...

OH WHAT THE HELL!

Dump valve and Dump tube is totally different thing!!!

Man why does everyone think everything turbo has got something to do with Dump Valve!!

thats the first thing i get asked ALL the time, and NO i don't have one.
